My dealer neglected to tell me about the drive shaft "clunk" on the 4th gens....

After taking it back twice thinking it was a rear brake issue and them telling me they can't find anything wrong....

I did a bit more research...(as in reading this forum) and came to find out it's not going to be fixed.

Drive shaft clunk? You mean during a stop, when the driveshaft "bumps" your truck? Easy fix.

I haven't had the clunk issue on any of my 4th gens. The exhaust tick on mine is only noticeable when the engine is cold and there a wall to reflect the sound, its hard to hear in an open space like a parking lot. Still annoying for the dealer not to disclose it...

If you didn't notice it during the test drive, I don't see how the dealer would have noticed it. They don't spend that much time assessing a used vehicle.

Thanks for the replies all, I've decided to just wait till next Summer to sell. The prices are way lower than they were last Spring/Summer, maybe the prices are seasonal? I'll relist the car in the Summer without the lift/armor/wheels at a lower price.

I've noticed that all 4th gen pricing has come down over the past year. I think it might be because of the 5th gen hitting the used market now. Why pay $20grand for a 4th when you can get a 2010 5th for $21-$26G's. I've seen sweet fully built 2010 Trails go for $26,000.

You're never going to get your Mod money back. If you're gonna Mod you might as well keep it.

From someone who has been scouring all of the ads in autotrader/cars.com/cargurus/craigslist and ebay -- you are priced too high.

With the mileage you have,even in pristine condition you are priced a few thousand over the others that are available.
Yours looks great and I hope you get what you are asking but it may take a while to find the right buyer.
Also I have noticed in the last month or so the prices of the 5th gens are also starting to come down a bit.
Not sure how they are selling but I am starting to see some decent 5th gen TE in my price range. Previously I was unable to find anything decent under 30k.

I had a 2010 TE before I got my V8. It may not be a big deal in NJ, but here the V8 is much better in the mountains. I also like that the V8s are all time all wheel drive, you're not supposed to go over a certain speed in 4wd in the TEs. That being said, the TE are said to be better off-road with more aggressive ATRAC and the locker. I would also read up on the repair costs of KDSS before you buy, mine got a warning light when it was below 20 degrees out and the toyota and lexus dealer couldn't find out what was causing it. KDSS is extremely expensive to service as they tend to just replace parts. Good luck!

Yea, the prices for 4th gens really went down a lot in the last year. I'm gonna relist this at 17,500 with the wheels/tires and lift. I'm gonna keep the armor for my 03.
