2007 vsc

Hi all - first post, thanks for all the info you provide!

I have a 2007 4-Runner limited V8...I routinely take the truck on the beach and have occasionally heard a beeping sound that seemed to coincide with my skid plate taking the tops off the top of the sand between the tires. However after some research tonight, I think it is more related to VSC.

I think what happens is that the truck is moving forward and I turn the wheel hard over to switch tracks on the beach. So the truck is moving forward but the wheels are turned over. Therefore VSC kicks in, beeps, and I lose power.

First, does it seem like this is VSC kicking in? Second, what is the best/fastest way to get power back? When I come to a stop it seems to re-engage automatically - but this is a pretty crowded beach and sometimes folks are following too close and patience wears thin. I hate to end up stopping a few times while waiting for VSC to give me power back.

I have seen some mods for putting a bypass switch in but that is probabyl a little hard core for me. Does locking my differential automatically turn VSC off? If so, this is probably the way to go. just make it my standard procedure as I'm pulling on to the beach.

Thanks for any help

I'd try locking the center diff... that should disable the VSC and, in sand, there's plenty of slip so no worries about "straining" the driveline while turning.
