2008 automatic transmission

Just got my first 4runner last week (34k miles) and there is no mention in my manual about the transmission fluid maintenance. Was thinking that the maintenance might be due but read somewhere that it is a "closed" system.

Is this true? What does that mean exactly? The fluid never gets changed?

Just want to verify. Thanks in advance for the help and insight.

Toyota took away the dipstick in 04. IIRC, recommended service is at 100K. For the most part it is a dealer only serviceable item, although I believe I have seen others service their transmission on or before the 100K.

Thanks but these threads are for trucks 2006 and prior. After 2006 is when I read they "closed" the system.

I will leave well enough alone and scratch it off my list.

Your '08 has same transmission. Like he said, maintenance is suggested at 100K.
