2009 SE New Skins (white letters or black wall)

Well, its time for some new tires. I have an 09 Silver SE with the stock white letter tires. I not a big fan of cleaning the lettering to keep it bright white. I like the black wall tires as well. What do you all think.

Also, I live in Chicago and would like to get a gook looking tire for out climate. Any suggestions? Let me know.

The only tires I like with the white lettering are BFG All-Terrains or Mud-Terrains because they are colored in. Aside from that, go black!

suggestion for you is goodyear duratracs. they kill it in severe weather, and wear nicely.

Sounds like you have the stock Dunflops.

Don't worry about them, wear them out & then upsize to some better traction tires in 265/70/17.

I'm in the minority but I like the white letters. I've had BFG A/T's on my other rides (and soon on my current ones) and I think they look good with the white out.

I ditched brand new Dunflops from the dealership for BFG's with the white lettering. I too have Sport Editions (2 of em) and i think it looks slick with the raised white lettering. Hard to keep clean?! Cummon now...spraying them with "bleach white" spray and going over them once with a rag will NOT make you break a sweat.

White lettering doesn't give it a clean look. Makes you focus on it. I wouldn't do white

I like white but my letters are only outlined so they're not as bold as the solid letters. I think it also depends on other factors such as the color of your rig, style of wheels, and aggressiveness of your tires. I only do mild offroading so I am not worried about scuffing them up too much.

See my tire thread below. It's white lettering on galactic gray, but it's close enough to silver. I really don't clean the white letters much at all. They're not NEAR as bad as a white wall. I like the white letters unless you have a nice fancy wheel

I've personally always been a fan of white letters because it adds contrast. IMO they break up otherwise dull black rings.

The only tires I've ever had without whites out were the stock tires on my first truck and even then I regretted not ordering the white letters.

I like the white lettering myself but since i do a good bit of offroading the white is almost completely worn off.

I've had both white lettering and black wall out, each several times. Personally, I definitely prefer black walls. I prefer the clean look. I agree with the poster that white lettering looks a little cheesy, but you know, different strokes, ...

I do clean my black walls very regularly with Bleche White and then Armour-all, so my tires and wheels always look exceptional compared to tires on most vehicles. I have found that you can't really get all the grime off tires with regular washing -- you have to use Bleche White to get them looking pure black (or pure black with white letters) and new.
