2010/11 Factory Mud Flaps

Toyota Factory Mud Guards

Hey all -
Just got a 2011 4 Runner SR5 and the parts guy sold me the Toyota factory running boards ( http://www.toyota.com/img/vehicles/2011/4runner/accessories/fullext/4runner_running_board_405.jpg ) and the Toyota factory mud guards. When the parts came in i dropped of the vehicle for the installation. They called me in a few hours and told me that they could not put the mud gaurds on with these running boards. They even called Toyota Japan and they said no. The problem is the running boards are long enough that they interfere with the placement of the front mud gaurds. Funny thing is they wouldn't even install the rear ones. You would think that the parts guy would have know this before they sold them to me. Go figure.
 
Are theses the parts...

Canadian OEM 2011 4Runner mudguards... on a US Limited with US OEM sidesteps (no cutting or modification).. I think the US SR5 is the same.....so check that.

Loosen six bolts under each sidestep and slide it down (mine needed a little kick to budge) until desired position and mudguard fits, I left a slight gap between for washing..

Terminator - I am not sure if that is the part as I never saw them when i picked up the vehicle. They were just going to credit me for them since they did not put them on. Now I wish I would have asked to see them. That looks great and provides protection for the running boards. If nothing else I am definately getting something for the rears.

They are easy to install, the sidesteps do slide back for adjustment. I think I had to move mine back 1.5 to 2 inches. The OEM mudguards will fit if your SR5 fender is the same as the Limited.

They make a massive difference....

Don't give up, they should fit, no matter what the dealer said... I know Toyota claims they won't fit but clearly they did on mine. No mods, just loosen the 6 bolts underneath each step and slide it back slightly.

Go back to the dealer and show them my pics..

I just installed the factory mud guards on my 2011 Limited and Terminator is right they will fit on 4runners WITH the factory running boards.

I was told by the parts guy at the Toyota dealer that they had a note in the "system" that if you have the factory running boards, you can only install the rear mud guards as the front mud guards will not fit with the running board installed.

Kind of funny how Toyota let this fly. Afterall, the previous generation T4R have running boards with mud guards.

The install is easy, just lossen the mounting nuts (6 per side) on the bottom of the board and slide it back. Install your front mud guard and slide the board back in place and tighten the nuts.

One side note, be careful when moving the running board. When you loosen the mounting nuts, you can also slide the board outward away from the body of the vehicle. So make sure you line it back up when you go to tighten the nuts.

Looks nice, left the perfect gap between the front guard and sidestep, what is Toyota thinking, maybe I'll email them, there are other 5th gen owners unnecessarily being denied mudguards. It is so simple even a caveman can do it..:shrug:

These mud guards really do protect the vehicle. Prior to installing them we had some rain, and its amzing how much sand builds up on the front of the running board and door.

I'll probably swing by my local dealer and mention it to the parts guy.

Hopefully others will read this thread and realize Toyota is mistaken.
 
Does anyone know how wide the mud flaps are? I have a set of 285/50/20's installed and I want to make sure the tires aren't going to be wider than the flaps. If anyone with them can do a quick measurement it would be really helpful in deciding on if I should purchase them or not.

The front flaps are 10'' wide and the rear are 10.5'' wide. These are OEM mud flaps.

Thanks for the heads up guys! Just purchased them off ebay for $69 shipped.
 
I have them still in the box, im selling them for $65 shipped. I don't like the huge contrast of the black on the white and it's not that important to me to paint them. Wish I knew you were looking.

Doh! I wish I knew that you were selling them at that price before. I submitted payment and received confirmation from them. If I had known earlier, I would have bought from a T4R member instead. Hopefully your post in here will generate some interest.

Does anybody have the instructions for the Toyoata OEM mud guards or access to TIS to get them? I picked up my flaps from the dealer that they owed me and no instx and a message on the box to get the TIS instructions from the dealer.

I'm sure it's a piece of cake, but don't want to break a clip or drill a wrong hole.

I put mine on today and they were very easy. Just match your flap to the bolt pattern and you know what to take off. The screw clips snap on the inside when you pull the outer piece off. The only problem I saw with the flaps is on the rears that has kind of pokes out on the inside since the designs are different.

So just pull on the outside of the clip nd they will come apart? No drilling?

The parts department can print the instructions for you. That's what I had to do with mine.

Bought the 4Runner on May 5 and had to leave town for 2 weeks. They had to order and were supposed to ship them to me.

The didn't ship and on Saturday I drove the hour up to pick them up. I asked them about the TIS message on the box, but he said their computer was down and it was self-explanitory. So now it's Sunday, I want to get them on, an no instx!

Man that sucks. I had a copy of the instructions but I think I tossed them already, othewise I would have scanned them and emailed them to you.

It is pretty straight forward but there are two note worthy items that I do recall from the instructions.

1. Not all of the clips are the same size. If you line them all up there will be two that are longer then the rest. Those go on the front wheel wells on the lowest hole to the outside. Also when placing the clips make sure you put the side with the lip on the inside of the panel.

2. The holes you need to drill have to be 3/32 according to the instructions.

Also FYI the push pins for the rear are a pain, or at least they were for me.
