Like Airbus treats the "organic matter" in the cockpit.
I don't know the proper answer to the OP's question, but I don't believe anyone has really addressed it. The OP wanted to make sure he had the correct 4WD selection for snow/ice conditions. I know the Limiteds have AWD, but can someone in the know answer when is the proper time to lock in 4WD?
Don't lock the center differential if you're just cruising around in snow. If you do, you get 50/50 fr/r braking which isn't ideal.

That's because there's no black and white definitive guideline to when you should use 4HI. With the Limited's AWD you shouldn't need to use 4HI in most on-road situations. If you ran into an unplowed road with deeper snow then you might need to use 4HI or even 4LO if it's that deep. Honestly, if it did get to that point I might be more likely to just turn around and go home. Emergency crews are already going to be busy enough that they shouldn't have to come rescue someone in a 4x4 who thought they were invincible.

You might find it informative to read through the entire thread - you'll learn there are no definitive answers, but plenty of informed opinions. The basics of a locked the Torsen center differential are clear: When locked, torque is divided 50/50 between the front and rear axles. The front and rear drive shafts rotate at the same speed. How these impact handling compared to an unlocked differential is a matter of debate.

Good to hear. And I put my money where my words are, as I bought the unit I was testing. Loved it too much to let go. Still do. I have the extreme good fortune of getting to drive whatever I want, from Lamborghinis to Jettas (this week, a Jetta TDI), and the ONE that stole my heart, and continues to do so, is the 4R Ltd. Doesn't hurt that there's a community of lunatics to share this with....:canada: :cheers:

Indeed, we have the Rideau Canal, a 202-km marvel of waterway engineering in which 7.8 km is used for skating in winter. What else can you do in minus 20? We even make our own rinks (mine below), but more importantly, Canada was the birthplace of hockey, basketball, poutine and beavertails!

I still cringe at every vehicle I see with horrid tires and or brakes. If you want to laugh, cry, be horrified, and lose all faith in humanity just look at the "What just rolled into my shop" sub-reddit. I'd say 2/3 of it is bad tires & brakes. What the hell is wrong with people?
Who do we talk to about having these faulty organic components recalled? There's too many defective ones in dangerous machines causing potential harm!
