2011 4Runner - Ignition Stuck

Hey guys, I'm obviously new on this Forum; I'm active over on TTORA. Tonight I have a little problem with the wife's Runner, 2011, SR5. The key won't turn. I can't decide if it's the wheel lock. I've tried everything I can think of, now I'm stuck. Anyone run across this? I'm thinking the cylinder needs to be replaced. Can I remove it, or am I better off calling a locksmith? Or sending to a shop? I hate signing up on a Forum to ask one question, but hopefully my a Toyota Brotherhood can give me a hand. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried wiggling the steering wheel back and forth while trying to remove the key? Also, is your gear in Park? (I don't think you can remove the key in any other gear)

Yes. Key come out and goes in fine, just won't turn. Wiggle back and forth, check for park. Thanks for the reply.

Make sure it's in park, move the wheel to take pressure off the lock while turning the key, if that fails, call the dealership.

This is about where I'm at now. Tried all that, probably call a locksmith or the dealer in the morning, if I can't figure it out tonight.

Oh okay I see what you mean...did you see if the key still works on the driver side door handle or tailgate key hole? Do you have any other copies of keys to try?

If it works in those other spots, then I think there might be something wrong with the key cylinder at the ignition switch...the only thing I can think of trying before calling for help is disconnecting the battery and seeing if it would turn then...

Two keys, both work in the door. I tried disconnecting the battery, nothing. Looking like a bad cylinder to me. I will report back on my outcome, for future searching.

Towed to the dealer. Suppose to get it back Monday. Apparently the ignition cylinder was bound up/broken. Fortunately, I have about 1500 miles and 4 months left on my warrantee.

Thanks for the replies.
