Has anyone heard any rumblings about changes to the 2011 'Runner trim packages? Will the SR5, Trail, and Limited be the only offerings? Will the Trail still only be available in 4WD? It may be early but I'm still curious.

i think what he's referring to would be a Trail with AWD like the limited...
With a center locking diff.... :wow2:

I really don't know why everyone wants an all the time 4wd system. It would get worse gas mileage and cost even more money. I really don't think Toyota needs to raise the price of the 4runner.

i actually prefer the part time over the full time myself. I can see the benefits of the full time but for me the part time is just fine
arty:Because up here in the snow belt, in the winter the roads often vary from snow covered to slush to wet pavement to dry pavement in just a few miles. With part time 4WD, you have to switch back and forth between 2WD and 4WD. With fulltime 4WD, you just leave it as is.

I really doubt, in that situation, that you would need 4WD at all.
I guess it makes people feel more secure, but I really don't think it's a big deal.

doesnt a part-time 4wd system give you the flexibility to use 4wd all the time if you want an AWD system... or am i missing something?

Negative. Part time systems are not for use on dry pavement.

This whole debate is blown of of proportion, you can use part time on dry pavement. The owner's manual advises you to drive for at least 10 miles in 4wd each month. It does not say anything about it needing to be in the snow or during a rainstorm.
I wouldn't just leave it in 4wd permanently, but these vehicles are smarter than you'd think. Today I was backing out of parking space, and somehow shifted it in between neutral and drive and started to accelerate. Immediately, the dash starting blinking furiously and making noise. I highly doubt such a sophisticated vehicle and modern 4wd system would fall victim to an owner driving on dry pavement occasionally.

I heard they were going to offer the 4.6L V8 with a 6 speed tranny since they have so many left over from the DRIFTING Lexus GX460's.
I heard it in a dream/ABC news report , but still counts!:hiding:

I grew up in Chicago. I went to school in Ithaca, NY. I've lived here in MA for about 20 years. In those situations, I want 4WD, thank you very much.
You had me there, right up until the Pearl White part :gun6:
