2012 17" FJ wheels clear 231mm tundra brakes?

Has anyone with the 231mm Tundra brake upgrade used the 2012 17" 8 spoke FJ wheels?

I've warped my rotors for the 3rd time since I bought my car in March 2011, I'm tired of the shop asking for $90 bucks to machine them, or $300 to replace them... so I'm taking action and plan to perform the tundra upgrade soon. Of course I have the split 3 spoke OEM wheels which I believe are one of the only OEM wheels that don't fit.

I have an opportunity to get some FJ wheels for a good price with new tires which I also need, but I am hoping someone with the tundra brakes has used these rims and can confirm they will fit with no need for spacers.

17" fj wheels will work fine w/tundra brakes.

I've never heard of 17" wheels not clearing the 231's. Shouldn't be an issue but wait for others to chime in.

Cool... I mean if the 17" 6 spoke FJ's fit, I don't see why these wouldn't... but it would be nice to confirm before I go buy them.

Any opinion on the look of these rims mounted on a desert dune runner? I think they look pretty good.

definiteley like the look of them. is yours a limited with the flares and stuff or black flares or what

They do clear them. I had that exact setup on my old 99 with 231mm brakes

zgensler, I believe my runner to be some sort of SR5 limited hybrid.

here's a pic from the day I bought it.

so now the question is do I buy a set of 5 with new bridgestone duelers for $1000, do i grind my wheels to fit, or do I pick up a different set of rims... I need new tires, but wanted to get some duratrac's or all-terains as I punctured a Michelin 4wheelin last summer, so I'm not totally sold on the idea of buying these and having street tires, however, it is my daily driver...

Any suggestions?

Cuz it is the wide flare that the limited have but it doesn't have the cladding. Its the bigger of the sr5 flares.

And yeah. It ink those wheels would look nice on there. And if you kike the wheels I would pick them up and get the duratracs later. They solve the brake/wheel interference and the new tires problem.

So in short. I would pick up the Fj wheels.

Exactly what Zgenzler said. Because it's badged an SR5 but it has limited flares, and at the time I couldn't remember what it was badged.:moping:

I wonder if these 16" 2008 FJ wheels would fit/ look good?

They should fit. And the tires look great on them. Personally I like the look of the other wheels better. But there should be a couple threads on here that have a bunch of OEM Toyota wheels on 3rd gens and there are pics of them on a few different rigs for comparison. Just search around a little.

Your truck appears to be a normal SR5 with the added option of Sport flares.

My 2000 SR5 4x4 donor truck looked about identical:

Well, I'm sure the FJ wheels would have looked good, but they just seem busy looking to me. After looking at more pictures I've learned I really love the classic 5 spoke sport wheels. So I picked up a set with decent tires from the junk yard for $400.
