Purchased my 2010 LE in Dec 2009 and now have 62K miles. Been modified since July 2010. Wheel my truck 2-3x month and it is also my DD. Only unscheduled maintenance was I needed to get the driver and passenger front seat rails replaced (under extended warranty) because the seats stuttered when moving forward/backwards.

OP 2011 just turned 29k miles..... aside from hazy headlights (replaced free of charge) I have had ZERO issue and dont anticipate any as I maintain my vehicles properly.

Thanks everyone for their input and feedback, i have one more question about the A/C & Heater, since it does not have a seperate rear A/C & Heater is the main system adfor the third row?

My 2010 has 35k miles on it and I've had 0 issues. The only problem I've reported is the TSB on the headlamps. Otherwise, it's had oil changes, tire rotations, and nothing else.

8,311 miles and going strong.
The one issue I have with the 4Runner is the lack of overhead A/C vents. There are none. All vents for the rear are behind the drivers right arm rest/storage compartment and a few inches in front of someones toes(if sitting in the back). Overhead vents would have been nice to passengers. It was not an "end all" for me since I ride mostly solo.

I don't have a 3rd row (I've heard it's very small, no leg room for even the kids) but I feel as though the heat/AC system is more than adequate.

2011 LTD with 10k+ and no issues. I don't expect any major issues either or I would roll the dice on a JGC or Land Rover. I'm fairly certain someone is still driving my 3rd gen.
Are you sure you want a 3rd row? It's cumbersome to enter/exit and the seats are uncomfortable. If you're a Brady bunch fam, swallow the pride and get a minivan. The middle seats are roomy and comfortable and it has vents facing the middle seat.

As a former "ASE" tech myself (now an industrial H.V.A.C. tech), I cannot find an suv with more integrity than the one's that Toyota is building right now!
When I was about to purchase my 2012 4Runner "LE", I spent about 2 months, reading reviews from, Motor Trend, Car And Driver, Consumer's Report...etc, until I felt comfortable to move fwd (got mine, back in April).
Also to my advantage, I've owned a 3'rd gen 4Runner with absolutely no trouble what so ever! but the truth is, nobody can tell you what your truck of choice will do in 10 yrs, or w/300K on the clock.
But this forum is probably your best bet wrt personal reviews; there's a wealth of experience and wisdom around here, and a great resource for 1'st hand truth.

Just picked up my LTD this week and couldn't be happier. Just about pulled the trigger on a JGC but the couldn't resist the look and reliability of the 4runner. You will not be disappointed. Good Luck.

I just bought an 11 LE about a month ago. So far I have had to have the window sills (sp*) replaced, headlights replaced under tsb, and rear axle bearings replaced. Besides that i really like the vehicle, but HATE the dealership that I was dealing with. Its my first toyota, and the only thing I would change would be to be able to switch in and out of 4x4.

Hey Wade,
It wasn't so disturbing to hear that you were having "Head lamp" issues with a used vehical. But to have "Rear-diff" bearing trouble @ under 200k, says that those bearings were "Starved" for oil, or that, that rear-axle doesn't belong to that truck; in other words,
it's been swaped.
Perhaps someone took the truck "off-road" and crossed a stream, introducing moisture to all of the gearboxes, and neglected to change the oil when they returned home.
If I were you, I'd take a good look around underneath the chassis, and the hood. And most importantly, I'd change the oil in ALL of the gearboxes, the trannie, and x-fer case. Don't mean to be an alarmist, but these parts just dont wear out for no reason.

'10 LE, 41k, regular maintenance with some internal mods, other than being hit twice...within 24 hours..on opposite sides..no issues. Bodywork shop did a pristine job, would never know there was 10k worth of damage unless you looked at the carfax or shop receipt.
Driven it up and down the west coast, on and off road, no issues and love driving it!

I bought the car from a soccer mom. Underside of the car is squeaky clean. After a ton of delegation at the dealership they finally replaced the bearings and said that the right side had a defective bearing from the factory. Supposedly they spoke with Toyota technical services and they said that it's not the first that they have seen of matter.
