2012 TE VSC Alarm?

I just wanted to ask if any other 2012 TE owner can verify their rig has a beep alarm when the VSC kicks in? Also, is there a known way to disable it? Mine is currently not working (no beep) and I'm trying to find out if a remote start install caused this or not.

I'm not sure if it's the same speaker, but I do hear a beep alarm if a door isn't closed properly. I don't know if the VSC alarm uses the same dash speaker?

Mine does not beep. Had plenty of chances to beep over the last several days but the VSC just kicks in and you hear some solenoids clicking and it settles right down. It does beep when rolling backward down a hill and lever is in drive though. Push the brake hard and it will hold with only one beep I believe.

No beeps; just ABS noises. If it is acting up when it shouldn't be, do a zero point calibration (search).

I read the manual tonight and it seems this is normal operation. I could have sworn my 2010 TE beeped when the VSC kicked in. Maybe they changed it or maybe I'm thinking of the FJ I had...

TRAC is clicking all the time in 2WD in snow,sometimes in 4WD too, but VSC in not that easy to engage. That's probably why it's beepeing - to let you know that you gotta be really careful. For 2.5 years I have the truck I've heard VSC beeping only 2 times, both times when I was turning on icy road at some speed (not from the stop). But mine is 2010 so it might be different in 2011 and later models.

Mine only beeps if I'm in drive but the truck is rolling backwards, like on a steep hill.

According to the manual VSC should beep and get the VSC warning light when activated . It has on mine when playing in the snow in a parking lot trying to throw it into a slide but only a couple of times when actually driving on the road. I hit loose gravel on a on-ramp one time and once on a icy road. It seems TRAC is what operates and also makes alot of noise unless the sensors indicate a slide and then activates the VSC .

This must be a change in 2011 and later models then. In my manual it states the beep will happen if the vehicle is rolling backwards. It does not mention any beep when the VSC is normally kicking in. People must have been complaining about the beeps.... shrugs...

Mine says it will beep then too and does. Look at the last few pages of section 2-4 in your manual and see if it reads the same as mine. I doubt they would change that but who knows.

I have a 2010 TE and mine has definitely beeped!

2011 TE and my VSC does not beep. Definitely VSC, as it is always entering a turn with no throttle. After an accident it would do it on just about every right turn until I did a zero point calibration.

My 2010 TE beeps for sure. Tested it to make sure after it scared the crap out of me the first time.

2013 Trail - made mine beep when in 2WD, trying to go up snow covered driveway and it slipped to one side. The indicator came on and the beeps went off.

When traction control kicks in, no beep (just a bunch of ABS sounding noices). When VSC kicks in, you get the beeps.

I am not a big fan of all the driver aids on the 4Runner, but the VSC probably saved my bacon a year ago. I was on my way back from Pullman when I got bored and decided to drive on one of those gravel roads that I passed for the last 20+ years and said \\"well, I will have to check that out one day.\\".

Anyway, I was going into a gradual turn a little on the fast side, and the vehicle started to brake loose - nothing major, I could just feel the vehicle start to drift. I am reasonably experienced in driving in poor traction situations, but something in my gut was telling me that things were going to go wrong in a big hurry and I might just end up in the irrigation ditch this time. Just as I started to let off the gas and steer into the slide, I heard some beeps, a few clunky thunky sounds, and I was back on my way. I put my foot back into the go pedal, and off I went. It was pretty cool seeing the VSC system in action.

And yes, I know I was driving too fast that time...

The VSC seemed to beep a lot more on my 3rd gen. A way to get it to beep for sure is on a snowy/ icy road, throw it into a turn with wayyy too much steering, and when the truck senses it isn't turning as fast as you've commanded (or yaw rate maybe?) you'll hear the beep beep beep. On my 2001, if you were doing a lot of sliding, sometimes it would just start beeping for like 2 minutes. Probably telling you "dude, it's really slippery out here!"

I'm looking for a way to disable it for some snow fun. When I press the button, it seems to only disable for maybe one slide, then it's back on. Guess I need to keep surfing this forum. I've ordered a mini VCI cable and will see what programming options are available in the computer.
