2013 TE wheel question

Sorry if this has been asked already but ive searched for opinions through here and i seem to be coming up empty. My question is this... i believe my '13 TE has 17"x7.5" wheels with 4.5" of backspace... im looking to order some new wheels and wanted to get some opinions as to what other widths or backspacing some of you guys have used. Im not going to lift my truck and dont necessarily want to put larger tires on it either. Im just trying to decide if i should switch anything up that may look a little better or if i should just use the stock size. Keeping my odometer and speedometer right on is definitely a consideration for me as well. Thanks in advance for the help

2013 TE wheel is the same as the last few years, hence all of the previous recommendations are still valid. IIRC, 17x8 /w 4.5" back spacing is best, regardless of SR5/TE/LE.

Running 17x9 XD Hoss with negative backspacing. Comes out to about 4.53 for backspace

ive decided on Fuel Boost wheels. They come 17x9 with 4.5, 5, 5.5. and 6 backspacing. Sorry if its a dumb question i just dont completely understand wheels. Guess i'll get the 17x9 with the 4.5 backspacing

Yes 17x9 4.5bs is good, will you be running 285's?

I was planning on running the stock size with a more aggressive tire. If i did go with 285s wouldnt it throw the odometer and speedometer off?

Different size tires will change the speedo/odo readings, however... If they are wrong to start with (most read high) you can end up being more accurate with the new tires. I installed 285/70-17 and now the "check your speed" units you can find around most towns shows I am right on the money.

I thought maybe the ECU somehow "learns" the new tire size then re-calibrates. But I could not come up with a good process on how it would do that. Good to know it was probably good old human error or planning to begin with.......

i'm pretty sure every Toyota i've owned (7 of them) the factory speedo gauge was always a little higher than actual speed.. so bumping up the tire circumference as long as you don't go too high.. might actually make your speedo spot on

Using my GPS as a standard, my speedo is more accurate with 285/70s than with the stock tire. Ducmonsta said it probably would be before the install; I was skeptical, he was right.

I suppose it runs a little hotter though, since the increased height means it is closer to the sun.
