For those of you that have ordered a 2013, what kind of pricing are you getting? I totally understand that different geographical locations are slightly different, but are you able to get below MSRP on a vehicle that you special order? Thanks

I paid full MSRP but the dealer is throwing in several accessories for free. I did not expect to pay any less than retail though.

Out of curiosity I asked for the ePrice on some dealer listed '13 LE models whichbwere not yet delivered and they were about 9.5% under MSRP. I bought a '12 LE less than a month ago for more than 10% under MSRP like several others in the forum.

The standard deal around here appears to be 8% to 8.25% off MSRP ($800 back if invoice). Yeah, could probably drive down a bit more but I just want to get my rig delivered and not hassle with the dealer BS any more than I absolutely must.

I ordered a Trail in early July, it's on a ship on it's way over now. I expect to get it by the end of September. I was able to get a 2013 at 5.8% off msrp from their internet sales rep.

is that 8 or 9% off MSRP the 'drive out' price ?

Nope. 8.xx% off MSRP + Tax.

Don't drive yourself nuts trying to find some mystery "best" deal. You'll see all kinda of stuff on forums, etc. I suggest you nail-down exactly the model, color, and equipment you want, get a general sense for what they are selling for, find a dealer you want to work with, and have them find it. Done.

You can find people online who will say they got the best deal ever known to man...causing you to chase the ghost.

For me, as long as I am working with a salesperson I want to do business with and they are within $300-500 of the "going deal", fine. But that's just me.

Good luck.

..... and this ^^^.

I might add that you may not find TEs as discounted as SRs and LEs, due to availability.

I managed to get mine $700 under invoice, though after taxes, registration, and new plate fees I'm back at MSRP.

It's supposed to be here beginning of November, but that feels like an eternity. It's worse than waiting for Christmas as a kid!

Thanks for the responses! I was on a search for a deal on a 2012, but dealers have been getting back to me saying they can order me a 2013 and giving quotes about 8-9% off of MSRP which was just as good of a deal as trying to find a 2012 in the color and options I want.

As SgnDen stated, I could probably drive the price down more, but in the end a couple hundred $ is not worth bickering over. I am going in today to put down a deposit on a 2013 Magnetic Gray LE!

Philsey make a good point. Of course, depends on where in the country you want to buy.

Here in Denver, you could send an online quote request to any number of dealers on a Trail and get back a price in the 7% - 8% off MSRP range. There is no problem in this region finding exactly what you want...4Runner land here.

I think you are safe to assume you should be able to get 8-8.5% off MSRP, if you are looking at 12's I might push a little harder. If you are looking at LE's over $41k I would shoot for 10% off MSRP... the margins are the tightest on the most base models. Like others have said gets quotes from a few dealers and as long as you feel good about your deal, everythings good!

Three(3) things I generally take with a grain of salt when presented via Forum post or cocktail party banter; Gas Mileage, How much money someone makes and Shoe size (I know, wierd cocktail party) anyway...
I operate under the premise that Fair is Fair. I'm in business and chances are - I deal with people who are in business when buying something whether service or tangible.
I don't try and squeeze every nickel out of someone anymore than I do the juice from a lime when making a vodka tonic - keep it simple Go get some more Limes.
When negotiating a vehicle purchase I determine what I want (some people fool themselves and call "want" "need" but it's want, trust me).
I edumacate myself as to fair market value for all the moving parts to the deal being careful to not delude myself - keep it real.
These days, I have my vendors of choice to include car dealership(s) but, back in the day I looked for the best dealership not for price but for whole package Honest, Professional, No tricks, etc.
Present my proposal and ....wait.
By not "squeezing" them like they are a tube of fun cream I guarantee myself future service and don't have to hide my face when I show up to resolve the inevitable problem.
As the years have rolled by, this has worked well.

Gotta agree with lots in this little excursion into rationalization of paying too much. But...

I'm willing to take a little longer than most on a car purchase, being in a hurry or the desire to avoid a contentious negotiation can cost you big money. The sales guy knows that very well.

And I do not care who I buy from at all. Price rules. You are not married to a particular dealer for warranty work.

The most money you will likely ever make (per hour) will come from those few hours of planning and execution of the purchase.

Then again I've got friends and relatives that pay sticker price and always have. The they take the rust or paint protection or nitrogen. Some are intelligent folks but have no stomach for the game, the others are simply not good shoppers.

Let's not talk about the shellac'in I got when buying a particular car my GF just had to have in a hurry. That still hurts.

I think another consideration is the value of your trade if you have one.

I was able to get 10%ish off my LE $43,215. = $39205.00.

But I also had to consider the cost of waiting for 13's, the 13's additional yearly increase and watch my trade lose value.

In just a few months my trade lost more than $500.00 so i jumped at the highest trade offer and lowest t4r price.

I shopped at least 10 dealers with the best combo and none would touch it.

Thats when i knew i was at the bottom.

The funny thing is that the offers for my trade from private buyers were the same as the best dealer trade offer.

Happy with my t4r.

How much down do they typically want to order your truck?
I might order one myself and I want to know abt how much to bring in.

Good decision! My 2013 Mag Gray LE should be here exactly as I ordered it in a few weeks. Race ya (both winners of course)!

Oh, I gave em $500 and they were happy to order. No signatures, just gave em my card number and done.
