I just had an idea.... was actually researching rivnuts for another truck install, and just thought about that for this install... a rivnut would be secure, and give you a bunch of treads for strength....

Sounds like a good option but don't rivnuts require special installation tools? I thought they were kind of like rivets in they get crimped in the back somehow?

Is there a hack to installing them without having to buy a tool?

There are a tin out there in Google, like this...Install Riv-nut Without Special Tool????? | The H.A.M.B.

But for me, I think I'm going to just spend a few $ and try something like this...

Might just be a handy tool to have around. Make sure to find one that can work with 1/4 inch rivnuts in aluminum.

I forgot to mention, there are a bunch of YouTube videos on how to use them, just search rivnut installation.

I decided to go with this version for rivnuts as it allows one to install various sizes. Hasn't used it yet, but seems fairly solid.

About to wire my switch. Only thing left is gray wire on AOB switch. What color wire should I tap into on windshield de-iced switch to get dash illumination?

Its not hard to drill the aluminum bumper.
It's also easy to tap it as well.
I used 1/4-28 NF to tap it, therefore more thread engagement than course thread.

I read that entire thread.. What or how did you cut and slot the aluminum channels?

What are these clips that you use to clip on to the headlight and windshield wires called ? (Vampire clips?). Where did you buy them, can't find it at my advance or o'reileys auto store.

I have access to a band saw, used to cut the channel halves and slots....

"At least three 18-22 gauge t-taps" IIRC, I got them from Amazon or eBay.
