Many here would like a 500 hp diesel running 33's that got 50 mpg and cost $20,000 bucks with leather heated seats. Unfortunately those are the ones that don't understand how things work.

500hp? Screw that noise, its about the TORQUE BABY! (Imagine that in the Hulk Hogan style Mr. Torque from Torque Industries in Borderlands 2, You gamers get the reference! LoL)

In darker color, the new design is much better looking.

One thing I can't get over though, is that toyota cancelled the signature yello DRL that the pre-redesign had, where you can spot a 4Runner 2 miles ahead.

Are you sure? I feel like they might've moved it up to the corner of the headlight? Kind of like when they did the mid-cycle refresh on the 4th gens...

Hey I mean your guess is as good as mine, I just thought you might've read something in these past 35 pages that I missed since I really have not been keeping up with this thread.


So does anyone find it funny that even after the big reveal, we're now all still stuck here speculating the finer details for the next few months :lmao:

IMO Akio Toyoda needs to kick some butt and make them fix the front before they start production and sales. Glad I got a '13, this may have been a deal breaker for me.

Bring back the black trim for the Trail and lose the silver panels on the bumpers.

Someone in Japan must have got hold of some bad Saki.

Yeah, I read that article this morning. Yahoo will let about anyone say about anything as long as it's in-line with their agenda. This a$$hole has no idea what he's talking about. I'm guessing from his previous comments regarding the new Cherokee he's one of those guys who thinks all SUVs are evil and we should only be driving crossovers (you know, give up capability for a 2mpg increase). Why would Toyota put so much effort into a new front fascia and interior upgrades if they were just going to discontinue the 4runner a year later? The FJ might be another story, but who knows? I think Toyota would be shooting themselves in the foot BIGTIME if they dropped all their SUV's. They've got the market cornered now....they make the ONLY affordable off-road capable family SUV for sale in the US. Why would they give that up?

I agree that the '10-13 looks better, but the new style wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. I think we just need to wait and see what the actual production models look like. I think the black was a love it or hate it thing and from the looks of it, Toyota might be saving a little production cost by having all three trims share the same fender flares. You can always black them out yourself in a weekend if it was something you really wanted (I would). Besides, what else is there to buy? If you want a reliable, comfortable, family-friendly SUV that can actually perform the tasks an SUV is supposed to a 4runner is the only option on the new-car market. Am I wrong?

I chopped the red chop a few pages back to white. (It was sloppy, so I don't want to share.) Yeah, I'm pretty well on board with a face lifted model should my '10 SR5 need replaced.

I was looking to retire my 06' LTD and look for a 12-13' model but with Toyota brining back the Super White color, I just may wait. While the blizzard pearl is a nice color, I prefer the actual pure white.

I think I'll be looking to replace my 05 with a 2014 Nautical Blue Lease turn in after a few years. My 05 still has too much life left in her to trade this early. After all, I just spent the money on the timing belt that I need to get some kind of return on.

Philsey, I totally agree about the silver painted front/rear........not feeling it at all.

I know you mentioned it would be an easy fix, and that is true. Others have mentioned the color keyed flares and bumpers and how that would be easily fixed as well. Agreed. You can work wonders with the help of a body shop (or spray-bombs and Plasti-dip for that matter!), but here's my issue.

Most everyone on here is a mod-addict to one degree or another. However, my idea of modding is buying and installing the parts I want to improve my truck, NOT to spent time and money to get the basic rig to look like I had hoped it would from the factory!

Granted I took the factory tires off of my 2013 Trail with less than 100 miles on it to put some real and capable tires on it, but should I have to paint the silver portions, the entire bumpers or the flares to make my $40K Trail look like a Trail and not just like an SR5? Not to mention, nothing is as durable as factory oven baked paint. So when we spray bomb or Plasti-dip the silver on the front end and every rock chips it or every bug etches it, how much will you love your new rig?

I guess I'm just saying I want to spend my mod money on mods the factory would never offer (armor, lifts, etc), not trying to get it to the point it should have been when I took delivery.

Again Philsey, this is NOT directed at you, I just noticed several people saying that hiding the silver or the lack of black trim was an easy fix.

I'm not totally bashing the 2014, but I just gave my 2013 a big hug! To each his own. I'm sure someday I'll warm up to the refresh, but right now I am feeling zero buyers remorse.

I have to agree. The lower silver facias are a styling feature of the 4th gens that I never particularly cared for.

Happy to see some new features. I prefer the current style over this refresh, but it wouldn't keep me from purchasing one. Hopefully the new features get more people interested in the 4R over its competitors. If we want these things to stick around, Toyota needs to see the sales numbers. The biggest complaints I've had and/or heard about the current-gen have been the lack of amenities, or as 1E lovingly puts it, "trinkets".

I see your point. That's been a very sore spot for me and source of buyer's remorse with my SR5. But, for every person like you who loved the black trim, there is some one else who likes the new colored trim. Toyota can't make everyone happy. I also understand wanting a TE to look different. I think it will, but more of a subtle difference like the 2010-2013 Canadian models. You're supposed to be buying a TE for capability and not looks anyway....Right?
