2014 4Runner

Cripes, just when 1engineer finally stopped nagging me to get a TE, you start. I'm going to wait for the '14 TE TRD/SC in refrigerator white.

Someone's got to do the dirty work right? BTW, I took a look at your local Toyota dealer websites to check the new inventory levels in Illinois, not a single new TE in sight. When is the cut-off to custom order a new vehicle for the current model year again? tick tock tick tock tick tock

It seems as if the adults took over this redesign and made it a bit more "smart". Removing party mode, the black wheel arches on the TE, adding seat heaters, leather etc.

Like I said, some of that makes me happy, but I wish the "kids" who designed the first iteration of the 5th gen would have gotten a little more say.

For me: 2013 TE and LE combo would my perfect choice. Fulltime AWD (from LE), rear locker (from TE), cloth heated seats (combo TE & LE), full black interior trim (from LE).

Hideous front end. I think the 4runner looks tough as it is: With it's bulging body panels, it struck a nice balance of conservatism and aggressiveness. This new thing looks like an acid trip

Anyone come across a picture of what the 2014 LE or SR5 will look like?? I searched in vain on the Internet and couldn't find one.

There's nothing out there quite yet. Just the prototype, I forget where I read it but they will be releasing those later. I remember reading how "striking" the Limited is gonna be,

That's a scary thought "striking", given the striking look of the prototype TE :lmao:

I was hoping they would bring back the light blue color from the 2nd gen:

Speaking of 2nd gens, i have lived in my building for almost three years and there are two 2nd gens parked in my garage, both are 2-doors and both are lifted and modded...I have never seen them move in three years. I wonder if they belong to anyone on the T4R forum?

My salesperson told me today that Toyota will make TE Premium and SR5 Premium for 2014. He will keep me posted as he gets more info from Toyota.

Hey 3X...well yes, they're actually both mine! I love the 2 doors so I got two. The gold one I got when I was in college and when the engine gave out I swapped in a 5.0 Ford V8. I know...a mistake which I might correct if it doesnt get sold. The red one is stock for now except for a ball joint/Land Cruiser coil lift.

The reason neither has moved in a long time is because I moved to London. Thats also the reason Ill be putting the gold one for sale, besides rarely being there to drive them. The red one Im not sure yet whether Ill leave there as a driver while Im in the states or have it shipped out to the UK.

In any case...if you wanna chat Ill be in town the 26. Im in 1401.

PS...that Firebird as you go into the lower level is also mine :) Thats coming to the UK for sure...

OFFICIAL: FJ Cruiser will be discontinued at the end to the 2014 Model Year

Despite disliking the restyled 2014, I'm glad that didn't discontinue the 4Runner all together. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the FJ Cruiser. The Toyota Fleet website officially confirmed that the FJ Cruiser will be discontinued at the end of the 2014 Model Year.

Omg!! Guess it was gonna happen at some point.

Waiting for more info to be released. Have been heavily considering a 2014 JGC with the new 8 speed trans, but can't get past the reported recurring problems and heavy depreciation.

I sold my 2011 SR5 quickly at a fair price, and the 2 year depreciation was not that bad.

Looking at 2012 Grand Cherokee Overlands it appears to me you could easily have $10K depreciation in 2 years as they come off lease and rental auctions.

The 2012/13 resale has really taken a hit since the introduction of the 2014s with new trans and styling. The 8 speed mpg, plush interior, power rear gate and offroad ability are all plusses though. But reports of blue smoke at start up, difficult starting and other electrical bugs are making my decision to get another T4R easier.

My Wrangler LJ is my primary vehicle now, so I'm not against the brand in general, but looking forward to getting back into another 4Runner.

MPG Reports on the JGC on fuelly don't show it getting much, if any better mileage then 5th Gen 4Runners.

Jeep Grand Cherokee MPG Reports | Fuelly

Interesting. Appears the V6 Pentastar is capable of 20 MPG avg as is the 4Runner, but not a marked real world difference.

I have a 2014 JGC and real world I am seeing 22-23 highway (depends on incline level of route) and 17 city

I also test drove a 2013 4runner and the night and the plush feature set and interior for the same price won me over. It will be disappointing if the 2014 4runner brings those up to par. Kind of wanted a real truck base...
