Quentin, I'm not arguing, but if the other companies can develop such engines (no magic needed), Toyota can. They are just refusing to do so.

Indeed, I'm stating that they need to offer it from the factory, and drop any aftermarket stuff, especially with the high static compression of modern engines. Of course, the V8 for the Lexus is probably on the same assembly line, so refusing to offer it is just obnoxious. Either that, or give the Lexus the 4-Runner tailgate.

I wouldn't expect a complete drivetrain overhaul on a mid-cycle refresh anyway. As far as the V8 goes, I'm sure Toyota has some well-researched reason for not making it available in the 4runner. Probably low anticipated demand. There are just as many "what kind of MPGs can I expect" threads as "I wish there were a V8 available", if not more. It's just not where most consumer's priorities are these days.
It could be a cost issue as well. Adding a V8 and six-speed may price the 4r too close to the GX.
Is it the air injection system crap that's causing problems with the SC introduction?
I've set aside some cash for when it comes out because I want more power from my V6 TE.
This is the USA....Why can't we have the options that every other country has with their automobiles? Seriously, even Mexico gets a better selection of vehicles then we do....
Kindly give the average person more credit, and avoid the reference to the "global warming" hoax.Because we have let our politicians think that they know what's best for us.
If we had our way cars would be rolling death traps and the global warming would send the rising sea levels straight into Kansas.

If I stare at it long enough, maybe I'll learn to like it.
i think the scale of that PhotoShop is a little off which makes it deceiving. those tires would have to be enormous to achieve that effect, i think. i'd estimate the front wheels are ~5" outside of the fender. but yeah, completely remove the front end, add aftermarket bumpers, a complete suspension, skids, beadlocks and huge-ass AT or MTs and it looks badass. (what wouldn't?! :lolNow when you take the 2014 Red TE and do this it actually looks really good![]()
pretty sure only the Trail is getting the faux silver bumpers. It appears in the picture of the SR5 that is is not clad with the silver faux skid plates on the front and rear bumpers. Is this actually the case? If so, that is one thing that I like. Although the overall redesign of the front end will still take some getting used to for me.
