2014 4Runner

I feel like this refresh is going to be one of those that things that will quickly grow on you once you see it in person. The only one I'm still not sold on yet by the pictures alone is the LE chrome mustache edition, maybe that one might just suck any way you look at it :)

It is hard to believe that Toyota went from:

This from your post sums up my opinion, wow, I'm so happy I have a 2010. That front IMHO is horrible. Maybe its better in person, at least I hope so. Wow :(

Holy bad angle! They will look better once people start modding, but that is a rough front end. 2010-2013 trail is the looker of the 5th Gens. Cool FJ in the background!!

I have never owned a Durango, but have a few friends that made this fateful mistake. Yes I warned them to get a Tacoma/T4R/Highlander, but life is about choices. They ALL made the wrong choice, and are ALL driving Toyota products now.

Don't buy a dodge. Worst pos on the road. I was working in the oilfield last winter, and one of the guys I lived with had a loaded 2012 Ram hemi... It was stuck for a few days in front of our place in the snow because he blew his front dif for the 2nd time in just over a year.

I do not think that guys Exploder even has low range if it is 4x4. Useless vehicle to me.
It is rear wheel drive. As with most people who buy such vehicles, I have no need or desire to go off road. That is why the 4Runner and Durango are direct competitors for most buyers. I see plenty of both in southern California, and most never even travel a gravel driveway. My Explorer has traveled on gravel and across dirt construction sites, but only a very few times in the past seven years.

I'm considering the Durango and the 4Runner, although keeping the Explorer is also one potential choice, especially since I'd rather invest in rental houses than spend on vehicles (we're closing on number 13 in a few days).

The 2014 has some nice new features , but for me I didn't care for the look of the vehicle and I heard from my dealer that were adding some bright trim to the TE. Once I saw official pics from the dealer I decided I like the look of the 13 much better. Thats just me though , I'm sure once i see some tricked out I may feel differently.

A handy chart of all 2013 and 2014 AWD/4WD SUV's and fuel economy: Fuel Economy

Interesting that Lexus priced the 2014 GX460 at $49k msrp for the base model, down 9% y/y.

Maybe base gx460 is a good alternative to TE. It has kdss standard and a V8. I think back up camera is standard. the only thing I need to add is tow hitch. I think led headlight are standard.

As someone mentioned, it seems like the 14's will be out next week on the lot. Anyone know when we will see exact pricing on the Toyota website for the options? Seems like the 4Runner is the only one that isn't on there for the 14' so far...

Mountain sales toyota told me that they are tracking 4 trail premiums that should hit LA port on the 19th. They should have them in CO a week from that. 2 silvers, one white and a grey. I am looking for a black.....maybe the white...not sure.

The first shipment of production '14s landed in Hawaii -- there were around 20 -25 viewable from the street in front of the distribution center. Not sure when they'll hit the lots, but I'd guess relatively soon (probably timed with the national release).

The white SR5 sure reminded me of my '05. The side profile of the new Limited looks better in person than in pics. And the new tails don't look as "after-market" as I initially thought they would from the press pics.

Thanks man! They do look pretty good. I'm not sure I like the White TE as much as I thought I would. I may have to go a different color if I get one.

Thanks for uploading the video and photos. I thought the tails would have looked better on the white than they do, but I thought the dark gray looked very nice. I would love to see the front end of the Trail in either white or dark gray. Hopefully they'll have the Toyota website updated soon.

I drove by earlier today to check them out, and they sure look better in person. I wasn't a fan of the limited, but seeing it in real life changed my mind. The dark blue is great looking though! Might have to trade my tacoma in for one...

When I bought my 12 LE I loved it, and wished that the only thing that I would want more is memory seat and ventilated seats.....Now the 14 has them I may be looking at one of those...maybe a 15 or 16. I rarely buy first gen of a new model, just in case.......
As for the Lexus GX, I think they look great, have great interiors and have all the bells and whistles, but C'Mon, that HUGE rear Barn door and no rear window that slides open.......Er Nah!

The GX should basically be the t4r rebadged, with lexus amenities and a v8. More like the 06 lx470. Some of their design/styling decisions make no sense.

The GX is basically the Land Cruiser Pajero Prado, which is sold in many markets worldwide, in higher volume than the 4Runner.
