It is smaller (6.1-inches) than the optional (non-Entune) nav that was an option on the 10-13 Limited, which had a 7-inch screen. The large silver bezel makes it look even smaller, in my opinion.
Disappointing too because the initial press release mentioned that the Limited would keep its 7-inch screen. On the other hand, it also mentioned LEDs in front too, which I assumed to be for the DRLs, which we know is not the case.
Yeah it seems the lack of led drl's was a last minute cost-cutting move. Or maybe they didnt want to step on the GX460s toes. In any case, I think the sharp upper edge element of the 2014's headlights was meant to be led but then it never happened. Led drl's would've been awesome..

Doubt that it was a last minute removal; probably just miscommunication between the product team and the marketing communications team. It would be pretty costly to retool or redesign at the last minute.
It is odd that the Tundra and the Highlander get LED DRLs with their '14 refreshes, but the 4Runner doesn't.
I'm actually sadder that they took away the amber DRLs and used the high beams. You could spot a 4th or 5th gen coming down the road pretty easily with their amber DRLs.

The seats are better but not great. Exterior looks great, but interior is fair. The entune in the 4runner appears to be Toyota's low end version.
The GX costs more, but you also get a lot more, except the storage in the back is horrible because you can not remove the rear seat and you must use premium gas. The tail gate is not attractive either. So if the GX guts were in the 4-runner body, Toyota would have an outstanding product. At least for me. Unfortunately, the current products are both compromises.

Engine noise and wind noise were a little more than I expected, but not deal-breakers. I had previously test-driven a GX460 which was vault-like, so perhaps that over-emphasized the differences.
I actually thought the throttle response, brake feel, and steering were better in the 4Runner than the GX460. The Limited's chassis with X-REAS seemed much more planted and sorted than the SR5. The Limited actually felt just as good if not a tiny bit better than the GX460 in terms of body motion and control. The 4Runner also has a better overhead console and the factory standard hitch which is nice.
I really really liked the 2014 4Runner, it's just the seat comfort that is a concern for me......

Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but you are wise to get a good long test drive, even rent one. I bought Toyota minivan and had to sell it after a month, as the steering column leaning left and the bad seat caused me severe upper back and neck pain which lasted into the next day after driving it. Not having a long enough test drive was an $8,000 mistake for me, and it would be a shame if anyone here had the same experience with a 2014 4Runner.
In the case of the 2014 4Runner, the problem seems to be at the bottom of the seat back. Does anyone else think if may be the lower end of the lumbar support?
I looked yesterday, and it seems the lumbar support is standard on all 2014 4Runners.

Oh I totally agree about the extended test drive, but the dealer looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked for one. Rental wasn't an option either. Last thing I want is to realize a week later that it's hurting me.
I'm amazed no one else has commented on the 2014's seat. I do not have back issues, no injuries or surgeries, but I immediately thought that it didn't feel quite right. Not only that, but that potentially it could be a long-term problem. It seems like the hard spot, whether it's caused by the lumbar support or whatever, was positioned maybe an inch or two too high to work for me.
I'm curious to hear other people's assessments of the 2014 seat, especially in Limited trim.

Exactly my situation and experience. As soon as I sat in that limited at the car show I could feel the hard area of the seat, and I tried moving the seat every which way to get rid of the problem.

I agree and it has all the bells and whistles... Only thing missing is a push start and smart key door handles.

Man I'm a sucker for nautical blue metallic. Had an '05 corolla of similar color, and way back before I needed a vehicle again I looked at a new '09 Nautical blue 4R. Black is a bit more of a pain to keep clean (though I don't care that much) but mine is also mostly paid for and I wouldn't want to take a financial hit over color (that wouldn't fly with the wife either) but doesn't mean I can't drool over it. Thanks for the pictures
I'm curious if the seat changed that much -- other than the perforated leather and ventilation, it looks the same as the '10-13.
I have no problem with my '12 Limited's seat, including the lower lumbar support. However, I would agree that the 4Runner seems to have more support there than others. In other vehicles (including my previous Venza) I usually have the lumbar support cranked up. I have it a little less than halfway with the 4Runner.
I found the seats in the '14 Grand Cherokee Laredo I rented to be "soft" in comparison.

Thanks for the scan. Official MPG is now down to 16/21/18 - not complaining, just an observation which is probably closer to reality anyway.
