2014 4Runner

How are those blue lcd screens (time and temperature dispalys) for night time driving? Looking at some of these pictures they seem to be a bit bright and might be distracting for night driving.

Just like the current 4Runner, I'm sure they dim when you turn the headlights on. There is surely a dimmer dial, too. My old GTI had a similar screen between the speedo and tachometer. I never had any issues with it.

Just plasti-dipped the front bumper section. I didnt like the silver.

Do the trails have Red stitching on the door panels, like the seats, or are they just plain black stitching??? I'm hoping for the latter.

Edit: Found my answer, they do have red stitching...dang.

Yeah, what he said. ^

Our Infiniti has the same colored lights and screen between the gauges and it's very easy on the eyes. Its not a Volkswagen blue.

Thanks. The VW blue I've seen driving next to some cars was the reason I asked about it. From my side whenever I look into some VW cars it looked quite harsh on the eyes. But who knows, it might have been modded displays.

Any reviews on the updated Entune stereo on the '14s? My dealer in VA does not have any '14s yet that I can see. Looks like the bought all the '13 they could get though. Must have 15 of them. Only had 3 or 4 when I got my '13 in July. Guess I should have waited a few months.

It's great to see shots of the blue in good light. Please post more. :-)

Though the silver does stand out a lot, I really like it. It plays nicely with the silver in the headlights and the fog lights. The SR5's sometimes look a bit plain without the silver trim.

Does your 4th Gen have a sunroof? We have both a 4th Gen and a 5th Gen, both with sunroofs. 5th Gen has WAY more headroom. I am 6'4".

Yes my 4runner has a sunroof.

I sat in a 5th gen TE and the headroom is relatively the same with my 4th gen. I do not notice a difference.

Now I think you can get a 2014 TE without a sunroof so I am curious to see if there is a difference. IMO there should be more headroom without a sunroof.

I am 6'4" 250 lb and have to get "XXLT" shirts to fit so they will be long enough. I never owned a 4th gen because I simply would not fit without my bare head touching the edge of the headliner around the sunroof. With the 5th gen, even with the sunroof AND wearing a ball cap I fit fine. You need to go test drive one after adjusting the seat correctly.

I dont have much to compare it to coming out of a stripped jeep wrangler however it does seem to work well so far. The bluetooth connectivity is really good. The nav seems to work well much better than Mercedes systems. The apps are kinda cool, especially the weather app. I really havent used it too much but so far so good. Its cool that when I play my sirius, pandora, or itunes through the bluetooth, a picture of the artist or album comes up on the display.

I'm 6'2", and even with the seat cushion as low as possible, I had the same issue with the 4th gen 4Runner. So I never bought one. As you said, the 5th gens have noticeably more headroom, even with the Moonroof.

Anyone know the bulb sizes? I am really considering getting the 14 trail and I would love to bring my hid's from my 06, instead of buying new stuff.

Maybe so. I live in the gulf coast region, so they completely disabled the site for us, but I've been using a Colorado Zip Code to get around it, just so I can build and price. (80001 for those wondering)

That was it. When I switched to 80001 it allowed me to look at the 2014's. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Guys,

just wished to get your aethetic/taste opinions when you have time:

1.) which color hides dirt/water spots better ?? silver metallic or gray metallic ??

2.) I'm under the impression that silver metallic is more for 'elegance' ? While gray metallic is more for 'roughing' look ? or no ?

3.) for the front/bumper of silver metallic or gray metallic 4runner, what spray paint/wrap would look better or aesthetically matching --- black or carbon-fiber ??

4.) for running boards, chrome or black or both or ?

Thanks for feedback!!!

Silver will hide water/dirt much better than magnetic gray. Generally speaking lighter colors will hide dirt/water spots better than darker colors.

Black and carbon fiber will boil down to personal preference. If I had to choose between the two I'd go black. I personally love the clean look of matching hood and bumper so I'd use a clear bra for protection.

As for the running boards.....ditch them. Get some rock sliders instead

1) silver should hide it better, but both are easier to keep clean than black.

2) both look very rugged on the 2014 based on pics I've seen. I'm still waiting to see them side by side in person.

3) IMO, the silver accent looks awesome on the trail edition. It ties the headlights and fog lamps together to unify the front end. Without it, it doesn't feel very balanced. Painting it black will look a bit odd, and carbon fiber will look tacky. That is of course just my own personal opinion.
