Hi all,
I installed a wired rearview monitor for a trailer-mounted camera in my 2014 SR5, so wanted accessory power from somewhere in the center console. There is a 2-wire bundle that powers the console storage 12-volt port and the 2 rearseat 12-volt ports, so it was easy to tap from one of the connectors of this 2-wire bundle.
I ground a flat connector to fit into the back of the connector, see first picture below. Then just fit the flat connector into the back of the 4Runner connector with the green wire, which is switched +12 volts, see second picture below. For ground, I just used an available bolt.
FWIW, removing the center console top by the shift allowed drilling into the center console storage area, drill pointed toward the back of the vehicle. I needed a 7/8" hole for the camera monitor plug, so drilled that with a hole saw, then installed a rubber grommet, see third picture.
Oh, removing the center console top was easy. Remove the gearshift knob and just pull up starting from the back. There are 9 clips. To completely remove the console top, unplug the 2 wire connectors, one for the 4wd and one for the back window.
