He's definitely got him self a sweet rig there. Very well thought out too. Doesn't look like he just threw a bunch of crap on there that's not needed.

I have LTD lights, upon close inspection I think they can be retrofitted, i.e. heat in the oven, open the light housing and spray paint the reflector to your liking as it has been described for the headlights.

Has anyone tried this? Is it possible?

Might work. Don’t think I have seen anybody do this yet. However, if you mess it up, you know someone here would happily sell their originals they replaced with 2014s...

on most vehicles you can't bake open the tails....
 
I really get a kick outta my wife. She really makes me laugh sometimes. When I first showed her my 4R with the one '14 tail lamp she said it looked ugly. Then she went on and on about how the '10-'13 tail lamps looked better. Then yesterday we went for a walk at the beach. Low and behold we ran across a Gray '14 SR5 and so we stopped to check it out. My wife says to me..."I don't like the new front end but the tail lamps are nice" :rofl:
 
ok. i started this thread couple months ago and slacked off and just now getting around to finishing mine up. Tail lights came in couple months ago, wire harness just came in. I have a 2011 Limited, and the turn signal and back up bulbs are not fitting. Call the dealership anticipating this and they didn't have bulb numbers. Can someone verify that clear back up bulb and amber turn bulb?

They are a straight swap. Probably putting it in backwards? The backup light is small and goes in the bottom hole. Blinker top. The wire harnesses are different. This means you have to actually remove the bulbs from the plug! Took me a second to figure out. Let me know if I just confused you. In other words, the bulb is separate from the portion that plugs in...
 
As Ben mentioned, the bulbs swap straight across. The old bulbs from the original tail lamps in to the sub-harnesses. If you have different bulbs than everybody else then you have on of them "white elephant" 4Runners!
 
I think you have the break light in your hand dude. The small clear one is the one you want... and the amber bulb. BTW, don't touch the bulbs with bare hands as it can cause premature bulb failure... The housing on the other hand looks bad. I'd get them to replace that.
 
Ya I am replacing all the bulbs anyways. I usually install with gloves to keep skin oil off then wipe down with alcohol swab. I got rear ended in a parking lot last summer and tail light has been cracked. So replacing both sides with the LED set up and new bulbs

LE was same. Don't think SRS and LE are any different from each other. All three trims have same lights. I swapped out my fronts for TE headlights with retrofit projectors. Hope you got it all figured out.

Is that true for all bulbs? I'm careful only when working with halogens and never have had a bulb fail prematurely.
