2014+ steel front bumper

Spied this beauty on Facebook this morning. It is a Sema truck and the photo was posted by TCT Magazine, but I can't find any other info. Has anyone else seen this thing?

I think it's actually aluminum. the pic of the painted rear bumper says "Custom Rear Aluminum Bumper". My guess is the front is aluminum as well. Looks like the guys that built the bumpers are InSain Fabrication out of Thornton Co.

Damn, the rear looks even better than the front. They totally nailed the contours rather than slacking off and boxing everything out.
I am personally a little skeptical about running an aluminum front given the forces that a tough pull with a winch can inflict, but an aluminum rear makes tons of sense. (on that note, I hear from a very reliable source that a well known manufacturer of aluminum protection for Tacos is putting the finishing touch on their new 4R line).
Hopefully this offering from InSain makes it to market too.

After having dual swingouts on my 100-series Land Cruiser for years, I am officially over them. Something like this would work nicely for my 4Runner.

but where would you put your full size spare? it doesnt fit in the stock location underneath, thats why im saying a swing out would be a nice place for a 285 or bigger spare

If you look closely at the pictures you can see the tire underneath. That rear bumper is like a thicker skin that replaces the stock bumper cover. The OEM hitch is retained unlike other rear bumpers where that is replaced.

You don't necessarily have to go with the obvious solution of a tire carrier for your spare with an aftermarket bumper. It works but if you don't want one you just have to be creative.

On my old 3rd Gen 4Runner I originally had a Rockware bumper with tire carrier. It worked well but it gets old having to open it up to access the rear of the vehicle. I then went to a Sonoran Steel rear bumper without a tire carrier. A new crossmember had to be built but we were able to fit a 315/75-16 (~35") Goodyear MT/R in the stock location. The trick was deflating the tire first, put it into position and then re-inflate to around 20lbs to snug it between the frame rails. Worked well for me. I always have at least 2 methods to reinflate a tire if needed so was never concerned about that being an issue.

My current 100-series Land Cruiser has dual swingouts. Very well built but the wife hates having to deal with them to access the rear where the fridge sits. Since buying my new 4Runner and thinking about how it will morph in the future, I have decided to go without a swingout if I go aftermarket for a rear bumper.

If you look under the 4runner, its pretty tight under there, i doubt being able to fit a 285 under there unless you ratchet strap it for clearance, but it may deform the tire permanently, the only other spot would be the roof rack, but thats going to be a pain to get on/off especially how heavy a 285 with wheel is. I was going to put mine on the roof rack but ultimately decided against it.

I fit a 285 Duratrac under there. It's deflated, but not strapped. It hangs lower than I like.
