2014 Trail Rocker Trim

For those of us 2010-13 SR5 and LE owners that don't like the current rocker trim, but don't want to spend the thousands it takes to do a Trail Conversion, the 2014 Trails Rocker Trim may be a good not so expensive solution.

Since the 2014 trails fender trim are now color matched, and its rocker trim is all black and universal, we may be able to just buy those pieces, and swap them out with our big ugly trim, without having to mess with the fender trim or anything else.

What do you guys think? We may also be able to use the 2014 Trails Running boards, instead of the low hanging ugly OEM ones...

I'm curious if the new color matched fender flares are the same as the current gen SR5/Limited or the TE version. I'm hoping we can adopt that piece as well.

Same question I asked a few months ago.

We'll just have to wait and see. It does look promising, but you can get shrockworks for $270 so it would need to be close.

As you likely know, there are subtle shape differences between the 2010-2013 TE and the SR5/LTD fender flares (not just paint color), and it is very difficult to tell that subtle difference without putting them right next to each other, or without taking a really hard look. I noticed the biggest difference down close to the rocker panels. The TE rear ones (near where they meet the rocker) sit a little closer/tighter to the body of the vehicle, as I recall, and the TE front ones are a bit fatter to meet up with the front tire mud flap. The front mudflap in the 2014 pics seems to kind of overlap as it goes up the fender flare on the front, so this indicates to me that the 2014 models may indeed have the same (or similar) rocker-side front flares as the 2010 LTD/SR5 models, but probably the same (or similar) rocker-side rear fender flares as a 2010 TE. But that is really stretching for me to say with any confidence. Interestingly, the REAR of the rear fender flares looks totally new, because my TE ones get fatter at the bottom to meet the mudflap, where the 2014 seems to be tighter to the body and the mudflap comes off of it a bit. Maybe true for the 2014 front too...

Does that help??

Still Ugly

Guys, you alls should drop the hammer and get the '13 trail edition while you still can. Just look at that hodge podge cross between SR5 and TE. Besides you alls can't see that hideous grille.

It appears Toyota refreshed it so we couldn't upgrade the headlights when they reverted back to halogens after offering projector headlights in the 4th.

Anyway just my $.02

'13 TE isn't white and the '14 TE interior is miles better. Per consumer reports, the '10-13 headlights are better than average despite being old school reflectors.

Anyway, I bet these will fit. I don't think Toyota would have painted the Trail Edition flares rather than just reusing the Limited/SR5 flares when they went color matched across the board.

Great idea, this would be ideal for me. I just got a 13' limited and really don't like the low clearance appearance, but I also like to keep it stock for now. When I take it in for the first maintenance, I'll ask the guys if this would work.

I've been thinking the same thing to replace my '13 LE rockers. I was at the dealer last week and was wondering if the '14 rockers on the SR5 would swap directly. I asked the parts counter about it and they didn't have any idea...

I got a quote from Camelback Toyota online parts seller. they were over $500 each for the rocker panels!!  :faint2:

EDIT: I just compared pricing for 2013 TE & SR5 Rocker panels... TE is $169 and SR5 is $574 (which is what he quoted me for 2014). So I am wondering if he pulled the right data. I don't think it would be that much for the new SR5 all-black rocker panel.

I went to my local dealer's parts counter to talk about this topic again - getting 2014 SR5/TE rocker trim to retrofit on my '13 LE. Parts guy said he could not confirm they'd fit, but if I returned them w/out noticeable wear within 15 days, there's no restocking fee, etc.

I was thinking about pulling the trigger until he told me the cost of the rockers was ~$300 per side. Shockworks TE rocker trim or cutting the existing is looking like a way better option for me at least.

I checked and I think the part #'s for the '14 rocker trims are the same as the TE '10-'13 With that said, I believe that the '14 fender flares are needed and I don't believe there's any way to make those work w/o major midifications. The Shockworks is very expensive for having an unfinished look towards the rear wheels. IMHO

Actually, the fender flares on the '14 TE look different than the '10-'13 TE's, and the '14 flares look the same on the TE and SR5 that's why we were thinking they would retrofit on the '10-'13 SR5 and LE.

I was told that the part numbers look similar across years, and I would need a vin number on a '14 to get the right part ID'd and ordered. I might try another dealer when I get time to see if I can get a more knowledgeable parts guy.

I did a fairly thorough (albeit eyeball) comparison of both a '14 SR5 and TE with a left over '13 LE at my local dealer's lot over the weekend. I could not see any difference in the fender flares between the '13 LE and the '14 models. I'm thinking you could easily retrofit pre-14 SR5/LE models with the rocker and running boards from a '14 SR5/TE. You could probably fit the front mud flaps as well, but would need the earlier versions fro the rear due to the different shaped bumper covers of the '14 SR5/TE.

My 4runner is Magnetic gray however I didn't think they matched body color on the 2014 SR5/Trail editions. What is the cost for both sides? Trying to figure out my options/costs.
Thanks

The same part numbers below(75805-35130 ROCKER MOLDING RIGHT
> 75806-35100 ROCKER MOLDING LEFT) are the ones for the unpainted trail 2014. $188.68 per side plus shipping.

Who is the first to try the fit? I am wanting to get sliders and like the bud build and Shrockworks on my 2014 limited and don't want to trim my rockers. Hoping these will fit the mud guards i have and blend with the rest of the trim. Who wants to be first.

I don't understand how the part number is the same for previous years - the flares on the TEs are clearly a different size in earlier years?
