I hear welding the shaft to the shock body helps with the nose dive.

Brake dive is because they undersprung the 4runner. Shocks can only do so much. You could run the HD OMEs on the lowest setting and get close to level, or go custom springrate. The FJ springs also supposedly have a higher springrate than the stock 4runner springs

They did not "undersprung" (whatever that means) the 4Runner. The brake dive is due to brake bias and springs set to match ride quality of most consumers. Most vehicles have brake dive. The Off Road Baja trucks have some of the worst ever. The Ford Raptor has a ton of dive. So, pick your poison. Brake dive and decent ride or no brake dive and jar your fillings out.

Are you serious? You could have just googled the term. Anyone who actually works on cars and suspension knows what it means. Like i said, its undersprung IMO. Having driven every generation of 4runner before, the 5th gen is way too soft and rolls way to much, they went too far in the direction of comfort. A stiffer springrate doesn't have to jar your fillings out. My 4th gen sport had significantly less brake dive and I've never seen a report of the suspension being too harsh. Based on the quoted numbers for the 4th gen and 5th gen springrates, they are almost the same, yet the curb weight is 800lbs heavier for the 5th gen. Lo and behold, one of the biggest complaints on the 5th gen is brake dive and roll

I said "whatever that means" because what is right for you is not right for that soccer mom who could care less about all this stuff and that makes up 95% of the 4Runner sales. Sure, I know what it means but I sure don't know what is right for everyone. I guarantee you if you completely eliminate brake dive with a front spring setup you will have too harsh ride for most. op, the 5100's will help, but not eliminate brake dive. I would do that first and see if you are satisfied. Springs next.

yea, get the 112620 toytec spring.. and add the 5100 at 0 lift and that's roughly 1.5-1.6" which should level the truck

I can verify this. I have been driving 4WD SUV's continuously since 1985. Izuzu Trooper, Mitsubishi Montero, Jeep ZJ, and Jeep WJ. All had nose dive when braking. The 5th gen 4Runner has the least of any of those I owned.

You may be correct, but if so Toyota failed miserably. Nose dive may be the #1 complaint registered by both professional and consumer-oriented reviewers.

Go drive a 2nd, 3rd or 4th gen 4runner, 1st or 2nd gen sequoia, any gen Tacoma, or any gen Land Cruiser, they have significantly less brake dive. If you are used to driving toyota trucks and SUVs, the 5th gen performs way worse in this regard.

This is a great option, the eibachs have a 620lb springrate compared to the ~580lb stock springrate, and combined with the 5100's additional dampening should significantly reduce brake dive

Toyota 4Runner is also one of the least complained about vehicles. You mean professional reviewers, the ones we watch on youtube and read about in print that don't even get the specs or models right? Or the one that broke through the ice? How about the one... you get my point.

I get your point, and I agree. A lot of those reviewers are pretty lame. And if we listened to the recommendations of "The Union," we'd all be driving Highlanders.
But again, if Toyota was trying to make a 4Runner suspension that would appeal to the "average" consumer, they failed. The Highlander apparently does, but the 4Runner does not.
