2015 T4R Limited noise (click) normal?

My wife's new limited (2WD) makes audible clicking (electrical?) noise when first put in gear and rolling. Either forward or reverse. Only happens 1 time, then does not happen again until shut-off and restarted.

I do not remember it ever doing this (only 750 miles on it). Looked all through the owners manual. At first I thought it was a clunking noise associated with turning, but just returned from road testing.

It sounds like a relay or actuator engaging.
Makes the noise with A/C on or off
Will not make the noise until you are rolling for a little ways either in drive or reverse
No warning lights associated

This is my first T4R and I am not sure if it is normal. I do not remember it making this noise. Seems like it just started this week.

Been raining cats and dogs here lately, not sure if that is related.

My 14 Limited makes a clicking noise like a relay while backing out of the garage. Does it every time approx. 5-15 seconds after startup.

Will try to pay closer attention the next time, but I haven't noticed a click. Occasionally I'll hear the auto running boards retracting a few seconds after I'm underway, if I interrupt its normal retraction when starting up.

I do not "think" it has always done it, but I am getting older. My wife seems to think it just started it also. Everything works, runs fine etc., just never noticed it and now my curiosity (and I am a mechanic) is getting to me.

Good thing is that other than this issue, if it is one, she absolutely loves her new truck

You sure it's electrical? What you're describing sounds like the click noise the brake pads make the first time you tap them after reversing/going forward from being parked. You hit the pedal and the pads get pulled in the opposite direction from the last time the truck moved and they hit the caliper and you hear a distinct click noise.

I am not absolutely positive, but almost sure it is a relay sound. I actually drove it forward, shut it down, and then started it and drove it forward again and it made the noise. No direction change. I will definitely look into your suggestion, thanks!

Yep mine also makes a little relay Type noise right after I put in drive and start rolling forward, never gave it much thought but did notice it.

It's normal. I read about it in the manual. It's one of the traction control sensors running a check after startup etc. I don't recall all the details but it's normal n

I heard it; like a slight buzzing or grinding noise when you begin moving forward or backwards. I guess I've never really noticed it.

My Venza made a similar noise when first starting (before moving) and I guess I've gotten used to it as a "normal" sound.
