So how does sales tax work if you buy from an out of state dealer? I'm in Oregon and I know I can buy from a Washington dealer without having to pay sales tax, but what about other states? It may be worth the trip to travel for a much better deal if I didn't have to worry about sales tax.

Thanks for that. If that is true, it opens up a whole new world of purchase options as I travel quite a bit anyways and there seems to be quite a regional difference in 4R pricing and availablility

I think this is true for all states but every state does taxes and registration differently, so anyone buying out of state should check with *BOTH* states to find out what the deal is exactly. It may be more complicated to buy out-of-state... there will almost certainly be more paperwork since the dealer may not be able to do the title & registration for you.

The dealer may not even be allowed to issue temporary registration & plates for an out-of-state buyer. (I know New Hampshire dealers cannot issue temporary plates to Massachusetts residents.) So in that case you will have to leave the car at the dealer for a few days while you finish registration on your own, or have it flat-bedded to your house or something.

Anyway, just do your research and it should be fine.

If your state has a lemon law, it could also be affected by out of state purchases. Here in OR, the lemon law only applies to vehicles purchased in the state of OR. I could have saved a few hundred $ driving up to WA, but considering the registration/titling headaches and lack of lemon law protection, I opted to stay local.

Got our '16 LE on Sunday at the local deal in Auburn. They had one other on the lot that we saw (white I believe). First time owning one and now I wonder why we waited so long.

Heard from my dealer today and my TEP is on the boat somewhere in the Pacific. Also found out that it has KDSS which wasn't part of the original deal, but will be "free" since it's coming on the vehicle! I don't know when it will hit the States or how long it will take to ship from the dock to NY but at least I know it's on it's way.

I'm also in NJ and just yesterday drove to Maryland to get my TEP with KDSS in blue. Next nearest one was in New Hampshire. Like you said, they are a rarity right now in NJ.

Glad I got mine. Love it so far.

See a lot of people ordering the trail or trail prem here. Why not the limited? What are the differences or reasons for one over the other. ? Just price or am I missing something else?

I picked the TEP because I wanted the KDSS, and the lockers. I kinda like the hood scoop too

I just left a very large Dealership this morning, 3-Tacomas,5-Tundras,8-4Runners, And about 1,000 of all the other model Toyotas. Who drives all those corollas?Must have seen 500 of them on the lot.Crazy
