2018 4runners hitting dealerships?

FRom the few posts I read on people who took delivery of their 2018 TRD Pro it seems they aren't paying the huge premiums most 2017 TRDP commanded. Is that's true statement?

I called a ton of California dealerships and they all wanted 7-12k over MSRP and some actually already had deposits on them for 10-12k over MSRP for Cavalry Blue. I bought mine for MSRP in Idaho. Seems most on the forums have now learned to call around or travel for MSRP pricing.

I didn't pay MSRP

I bought my 2017 TRD Offroad Premium at Wright Toyota from Jeff Westcott in Scottsdale, AZ. I live in So Cal and he saved me a ton of money by flying out to Phoenix and driving home. Plus, he did the mods (tires, wheels, lift) I wanted cheaper than anyone else could have.

... I wanted a TRD Pro but everyone in So Cal wanted $10k to $15k over MSRP. So I thought I'd get a Offroad Premium, but still So Cal dealers wanted $7,500 to $12,500 over MSRP. After calling dealers in many other states I saw Jeff's video about converting Offroad Premiums to TRD Pros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkAqSeaXeAk&t=56s) and thought I'd give him a call. He was straight-forward and gave me a better deal than anyone. Over the following weeks that it took to sell my FJ, Jeff stuck to his word and gave me the exact deal he promised.

Because I wanted KDSS he made me an even better deal because most people he sells 4Runners to want more lift or other mods.

I'm not trying to make this sound like an ad for Jeff, but he's a great guy who mods a lot of trucks (you should see his Sequoia!!) and he shows his work at SEMA. He's the least sales-like person I've worked with and he's no pressure. PM if you want his contact info or just call the dealership.

That's a pretty good deal. Here in the great NW most dealerships are not taking much less than MSRP. I went into a dealership back in June and he wanted MSRP and wouldn't take anything less to his manager. I walked out and told them I could go to UT and get a way better deal even considering the extra cost of the airfare. They didn't care, because they knew they could find someone else who would pay MSRP. Ended up going to a broker and he found a dealer in OR that would take $750 over invoice. To me that was ok since there was less hassle. What dealer in UT did you use?

Two of the three main dealers got close to the same discount (on 2017's). Brent Brown honored it on an '18. It was a grind for sure, but I negotiate for a living. Start with the internet sales manager, tell them you're collecting quotes in the surrounding states (no color preference), and request their best quote that day. Then take their best offer (get a PDF) and go into the dealerships in-person late at night at the end of the month and go from there. : )
