Great vehicle
For all of us Toyota fans we could have just purchased the LX 570 awhile ago if we wanted this land cruiser. The LX would have more luxury, same 4wd and motor and the price seems to be about the same.

I think he's going to need to think about a taller RTI ramp. From the Driver's seat - it had to seem like he was going to run off the end of the ramp. A Ram Powerwagon might actually exceed the ram's height.

I agree that there is a significant market for "True" offroad vehicles like the 4 runner, Jeep, or Bronco but I'm not sure just because people show interest in something like the Defender that it will actually sale well. 65 to 80k becomes tricky because now you have buyers who like a luxury fast bmw x5 or audi q7 that can get you to the grocery store or slopes fast but never offroad. Hey but time will tell if consumers really want a semi luxury offroader more than the gx460 or range rover sport. Hey Ford sold the raptor to non truck guys so they could park it at the Valet next to the sport cars and range rovers. Didn't see that coming

Why did GMC create Yukon AT4 and made a point of that model line during introduction?
Ford Expedition FX4 (Off-road) Package was available only on base model last year. This year, it is available on the Limited models. This shows that there is a significant demand... enough that Ford made it available on its top of the line model, costing over $70,000.

Do you know how many models FAIL? Just because Ford and any other manufacturer decides to build something doesn't show that there is a demand for their vehicles. You used see Ford expedition every where 20 years ago. Even at rental companies no one wants them until all the other big SUV like the suburban are gone. Most manufacturers like to brand and market something as offroad ready and bad ass. Consumers do not always buy into their marketing campaigns. I bet Ford will fail with their 70k plus Ford expedition off road whatever but will probably succeed with their Bronco. After all who thinks an Expedition no matter what they do is more than a oversize grocery hauler. Where as the Bronco will be the real deal and won't cost 70k (in base trim at least) and will probably sale very well. Toyota has a 70k Sequoia TRD Pro but who thinks that sells very well? I work in Los Angeles and live in Az and have NEVER seen a TRD Pro Sequoia. 65k to 80k for a performance SUV is standard even in base trim. I don't think 65k to 80k for a high end so call luxury offroader sells very well except with brands like Range Rover, Lexus, Mercedes and maybe high end real offroaders like the Raptor and tricked out Jeeps. Hey but I'm sure many manufacturers will try to make it work.

Funny you say that...while going to get my haircut...i saw a Ford Expedition with FX4 package on the road. Had to do a double take.
I do agree with you that Exp is an oversized grocery hauler........but when has that stopped Americans from buying an image? Look at how many Ford F150 FX4 are sold that never see dirt! Look at GMC...AT4 package is quite popular! I guess that you can say the same about most Rubicons being sold...i see more women in those things than ever recently!
As for Sequoia...those things are slow sellers to begin with...and the platform is over 10 years old. TRD Pro was just Toyota last ditch effort before they abandon the platform...just like Heritage Edition for Land Cruiser. I would not extrapolate what you see for Sequoia sales to 2021 GMC Yukon or the Ford Expedition.
Yeah, will have to see how these things sell. I will be honest...even though it is a paper tiger of sort, 2021 GMC Yukon AT4 looks pretty damn good.

The GMC Yukon AT4 does look good but over sized SUV sales have not be great especially with this crossover explosion. I'm curious to see if they can actually produce a semi luxury offroader that actually sells well. What would it look like? What do people want in a 65k to 80k SUV? Maybe a GX460 with skid plating and offroad tires and a rear diff lock? A defender rover ? What about a 4 door Bronco with 400 hp and offroad ready?

I went to a super fancy sporting clays club today in Sussex County New Jersey. It is one of the top 10 in the country. I drove my 4 Runner.
I saw a new black Land Cruiser there. A distinguished gentleman walk over to it and drove away while I was leaving. The LC looked very classic and stood out.
The lot was full of Escalades, high end ‘spesive Ford f-Series, Benz stuff and other Nuevo Riche status symbol rubbish.
The problem as I see it as the upcoming generation of “rich” don't have a clue about what a high quality vehicle is. They lack experience of pride of ownership since leasing is probably all they do and have ever done. I can’t believe people still buy Land Rover or Benz SUV junk.
There is no doubt in my mind that the LC is one of the best 4WD SUVs out there. There are just not enough people who recognize this to keep it coming here.

To be honest, I prefer the stealth of it. People still think that it is a Highlander.
When I had my MB G-wagen, it got too much attention, sometimes from the wrong crowd.
