255/80 under CBI bumper touches KDSS swaybar

So I am running a CBI rear with no swingout. I use my rear hatch a lot and didn't want the swingout. I have 285/70 duratracs and I want a spare that is close. I've decided on the 255/80 cooper (tucks up higher and Is pretty Close the the trac 32.8 vs 33). I ran into some fitment issues. I had to do some grinding to the inside of my CBI to get it to fit on the rear end but it touches the rear sway bar. I did my testing with my 285/70 so the 255 should be a little better fit. My question is....will the spare tire touching the rear sway bar damage it? Or mess with the KDSS? I'm thinking it will and may have to go the swingout route but just wanted a second opinion.

i ended up buying a 255/75/17 as my spare.. i always thought it was a 75 that most ppl fit under there.. its a tad smaller than my duratracs at 32.8 i think the 255/75 is 32.3 if i recall correctly

i had the same thing happen with my 285/70-17 MTR and a 255/80-17 KM2. until i can clearence all of the CBI bumper portion that comes forward past the cross member, i leave the spare off.

i wouldnt chance damaging the KDSS by limiting the swaybars travel. i'm sure it will cost more than a AAA tow (Due to not having a spare). Just my opinion though. good lunck and post if you come up with a solution.

basic measurements are those specs. but 285/70 duratracs specifically are 32.8 and the 255/75 mtr's are 32.3 so only .5 off.. and my used duratracs are probably closer to 32.5 by now

Is it not possible to cut/trim the CBI bumper to fit your matching sized spare and still clear the KDSS? I realize you may have to drop the bumper after marking it to do that.

I don't have KDSS nor a CBI bumper, but just thinking about your delima. Don't jeopardize function or damage of the suspension or compromise on tire size of your spare.

Just sayin' if it were me......I think that's what I would do!

is the rear KDSS sway bar making contact with any spare larger than stock 265/70-17? or is it somehow only making contact because of the CBI rear bumper?

Stock fits fine. 265/70

Larger size hits on the inner side of the CBI and the other side of the tire makes contact with the KDSS sway bar that goes accross

That's with a 285/70 duratrac

A 255/80-17 km2 fits with the stock bumper. I ran one for a few months before getting the cbi.

thanks, man. haven't yet replaced my spare since putting on the 285/70s, and planning to go with a 255/80 for the spare. looking to find a used KM2 on CL in that size and want to be sure it'll fit.

Mine doesn't touch but to be honest it was used off of CL so can't be certain if a new one would fit.
