265/75/16 tire. What size rim?

Not sure if it matters but they will most likely be Duratracs.

I know the 16x8 will stick out more and that's why I would like to run them, but if there is a significant difference in off road performance with the 16x7 then I will settle for the factory rims.


Nevada - Can you elaborate as to why the 16x7 is better.

I have the factory rims on the same size duratracs. They don't stick out much:

I'm personally looking at getting 16x8 or 16x8.5 to get the wider stance.

That depends entirely on the particular wheels offset. If the wheel being considered is a higher positive offset wheel than the original wheel, some or all of the added width could be inboard of the wheel centerline.

I'm mainly focusing on the rim width making a difference in the way the tire is seated and how it will be during airing down. Yes I know a skinny rim is the poor mans bead locker but is there such a huge difference between 7'' or 8'' wide when talking about a 265/75/16 tire.
unless having a 1'' wider stance has noticeable affects in handling.
