275/55 R20 gas mileage vs. stock tire set-up?

I was wondering if anybody had some real world gas mileage difference in going to 275/55R20 vs. the stock 245/60R20 on the 5ht gen limited? Thinking of getting the wider tires but was wondering how much of a gas mileage hit I would be taking. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

With 285/55/R20 I lost about 3MPG, but 1 of those is because the larger tires are causing the actual mileage travelled to be wrong by about 1/15th, so you have to basically add one MPG back to get the real number. The tires are 33" around and not 31", so they're getting 1/15th more travel around with each revolution than the odometer is reading.

It also depends on what type of tire, weight, and tread you get. I got very heavy BFG A/T KO tires with aggressive treading - not designed to get the best mileage. If you get lighter tires with better tread, you might not lose 2MPG.

I also live in a very hilly area, so YMMV.

I changed to the larger tires about a year ago and have since put about 16k miles on them. I'm sure there's some loss in mileage - more rubber on the road = more friction - but I have to say, I haven't really noticed much. Maybe a mile or so per gallon, maybe. On the upside, I like the look, feel, traction so much better than stock I would never consider going back. (for reference I went with 275/55 Bridgestone Dueller Revos)
