2nd row sliding seat, normal or not

I have the 3rd row seats in a 2014 Limited. When sliding the second row forward the passenger side goes all the way to the front seat, the driver side only goes part ways and stops. I can not get it to go farther. It is kind of a pain not going all the way to the front seat. It really cuts into carrying capacity. I went to the dealer today to pickup my running boards they gave me for cost and could not get the box in the back without taking them out of the box. I was just wondering if the driver side seat section not going as far forward as the passenger side is normal.

I did not think about it at the time but when I bought it I assumed the second row seats folded flat like my old 4runner did but I guess I was wrong. Luckily I have my atv trailer for hauling bigger items.

Sorry about that. I just bought a 2014 Limited and am trying to figure out how to change my profile. I think I am stuck with my user name but can not update my vehicle to the new one. I edited the original post to reflect a 2014.

Naw he is one of us now with a LE 5th gen with 3rd row seats.

The second row driver side does not go as far forward as the passenger side when sliding forward. I went out and checked mine as I had never even noticed. When I occasionally use the third row we access from the passenger side as designed. The second row does fold evenly with the back as I've noted if I needed to sleep back there it'd be easy. Hopefully it helps, seems the same since my 2011.

Mine is the same way. For long items I fold the seats down. :shrug:

I have a 2013 and it is the same way, passenger side which is the single seat goes farther forward by design for rear access. The other side would likely hit the back of the center console and block the sir vents if it went that far forward.

I was trying to get the seats to fold flat by using the tilt lever at the bottom of the seats. I did not see the lever at the top of the seats by the headrest. I guess I missed that in the owners manual. I am much happier now, I was beginning to think the seats did not fold flat. Thanks everyone for all your help.

One of the reasons I installed my ARB plug on the driver's side instead of the passenger. I'd rather deal with additional weight on the driver's side even though it already has the gas tank, but at least we can use the one third row seat if we need it (which we do when the whole fam goes). Not really something that makes a ton of sense, but I'm sure the engineers had a good reason. It just eludes the end users...

Well I commented before I read all of the thread, so my comment is useless but it wouldn't let me edit it I always get an error code.

I asked the same question at the dealership and they said it's because the passenger side is considered "curbside" so 3rd row passengers should theoretically be getting in from that side.
