12 cfm, link?? Jeez. My cast iron home compressor only does 8.

It's a York belt drive compressor. It outruns my home compressor too. I built it 10 years ago when there weren't good 12v compressors. In today's world I wouldn't go to the work because the 12v ones are so good and cheap now.

Used to be the standard on most trail rigs with a 5ish gallon air tank underneath. I've set up a couple. It's easy on v belt motors. They use an electric clutch so you just wire that with a pressure switch and it works just like your shop compressor.

Seems pretty useless considering the cost and installation hassle. Plus all those air hoses running around underneath the truck just scream failure points. Trailhead deflators plus a good compressor or CO2 tank and you're fine. I've never spent all my time airing up kneeling in front of the tire - you get to know how long it takes and what your tires look like around the proper pressure anyhow. This is a solution looking for a problem.

Although I will not be participating in the group buy, I believe this is actually a smart product. It runs the line between a full time central air system and a single line moving between tires very well. Even though you could source the product yourself someone has already done the work for you. I personally would probably put a line fitting on each of the corners of the car and custom cut a set of 4 hoses that connect from the central lines to the tire with plugs on the central lines so they don't get filled with mud. That way everything stays out of the way and everything and still functions properly (although the product may already do this)

In this picture I snagged from the group buy, it looks like there is a jack you have to install near each tire. And somebody said it before me, many of those parts are standard air stuff, I use them at work to make air cylinders do things (industrial automation).

Now what would be really cool is you flip a switch or turn a valve (safety interlock) inside the engine compartment, then whip out your iPhone or Android, open up the web interface and tell it what pressure you want.

I've seen something very similar done with a Rasberry PI kit.

Few little bits and pieces missing, but this is the majority of the parts from a local supplier. all prices in Canadian Dollars, so I'm sure you could find this stuff in the US for probably 20-40% less.....
