3.4 swaps galore. pics of 3 swapped trucks and more

1st one completed over a year ago. about 45k miles put on the 3.4 motor since the swap was completed.

1990 Toyota 4runner V6 4WD Auto
-3.4 motor from a 99 4runner
-using original stock 3.0 tranny and t-case (we rebuilt tranny, t-case, internal mods, valve body mod to handle the

3.4 power)
-TRD supercharger with 14psi pulley.
-tach works
-auto speed sensor works
-no CEL

2nd one, about 1 year since swap. (friend's truck, about to do another swap for him into a 95 4runner

recently we relocated the battery to the driver side, and installed the stock 3.4 airbox.

my 3.0 is not holding any pressure in one of my cylinders, so I was thinking about dropping a 3.4 L in it. About how much is the motor? Is it worth it, or should I just pay $2,100 to fix my 3.0 L

The swap is worth every cent if you plan on keeping the 4runner. As for the repair for $2100 i think it's better to save that towards the swap.

Man, thats quite an undertaking! The 2nd Gen seemed to be a nice fit though. I guess if it can hold the 3.0 the 3.4 isnt too much longer. My friend is trying to solicit my mechanics skills for a B16A V-Tec engine swap into is civic DX. I told him i wouldnt touch that wiring job w/ a 10 ft. pole haha.

ha....wiring up civics are cake compared to doing the 4runner.

I went to go put the 3.4 L in my car, and come to find out that it is illegal in the state of Utah. It sucks too, because I found a 3.4L with 21,000 miles on it for $1,750 with a 5 year warranty. Just thought I would let you know. Most likely just put a 3.0 L in it again.

How is it illegal? Your not putting in an older engine, your putting in a newer one with better emission (cleaner running engine). Here in Texas it's only illegal if you install an OBDI engine into your OBDII vehicle. I still get my 4runner inspected the same usual way.

I dont know why, they just said that it would not pass emmisions and inspections in the state of Utah. I guess Utah is just dumb that way.

How do they do the emissions in Utah? Over here they put my truck on the rollers and stick a sniffer in my exhaust pipe. They do the usual runs and it passes with flying colors.

Anyways, what year is that motor of yours? And good luck selling it.
