I would go with a second gen and do the swap. It's just my opinion though. I would rather have a vehicle with less bs and less wiring in it. You can get a 2nd gen much cheaper too. Drive it till it dies then throw a 3.4 in it.
hold out for what you want. get the 3rd gen and dont worry about a swap. 2nd gen with a 3.4 swap has less wires than an actual 3rd gen?? how many wiring issues do you really hear with toyotas. hardly ever hear anything wrong with toyotas wiring unless its a rat or someone messing with it.
