3 flash turn signal?

My Ford Edge had this feature, and it was in the top 5 reasons why I hated that car. I think they just come up with stuff like this to make the car features list longer, thus more impressive and "innovative."

I had it on a couple Fords I drove and actually miss it. With one flick you could set off the momentary turn signal and get both hands back on the wheel.

My wife's RAV4 has it and I don't like it. It's like a nanny scolding you on how many blinks you must use.

Sort of like a nanny but not really since you have original functionality of blinker plus the ability to program how many blinks you want. If your changing lanes clicking the blinker 3 times is just silly when you can click it once.

You know you can hold it without pushing it down all the way to blink as many times as you want.

In LA you will have changed lanes 4 times in 3 blinks.

Seems like almost all new cars have this auto 3-blink feature -- even the tinny little Hyundai Accent I rented to drive to Flagstaff to pick up my new T4R today had it.

I'm missing it in the 4R, which is why I searched the forum for info on whether it could be programmed in. Oh well, guess I'll get used to doing it the old-fashioned way again.

Most of the year I'm driving rentals and seems like almost all new cars have this three blink feature. I hate it and am happy that my 4Runner doesn't have this feature!

You know you can hold it without pushing it down all the way to blink as many times as you want.

Way too difficult. I'm an American and it's 2017. Did I mention that with interest I'll have paid near $50K for this vehicle?

What kind of update are you expecting? It's not a feature on this vehicle.

i know on my bmw and lexus, this feature is programmable. so for the 4runners it's not. has anyone tried this on there runner yet?

I think my Macan has this, but the microscopic stalk needs to be operated with tweezers to do it and my ham fists never manage to gingerly caress it for a lane change.

I reached out to Diode Dynamics because they have 'smart tap flasher' relays for other vehicles. Here was their response;

"those vehicles do not have replaceable/serviceable flasher. That function is incorporated with the BCM and is fully digital. Due to this, aftermarket flashers including the SmartTap will not be compatible with your vehicle."

Yes. You tap the arm three times. Works like a charm.
