30,000 mile maintenance help!

I feel like I could get all this done by my mechanic for less. I don't mind using my local dealer for oil, it's only $42, but if I wanted all the other fluids changed and actually wanted this stuff on the list done, I trust my mechanic to actually do it.

An oil change is one of the most simple things one can do on their vehicle and I personally believe that if you own a vehicle, you should be doing it yourself.

Like said above, it gets you under the vehicle and a chance to look at things on the undercarriage and is not rocket science. Any place like Advance Auto will take your used oil for recycle and you can rest assured the job will be done right (assuming you are at least mildly mechanically adept).

I've said it a million times before and I'll say it again: Nobody cares more about your vehicle than you do. Certainly not the guy that changes oil in 20 cars a day. It's in and out as fast as possible. Your vehicle is just a number for him to check off and move on to the next one.

Grizz, these are great videos. I wish we had a sub section under the "Modifications, Write-Ups, FAQs" thread for simple how to videos like this. I really appreciate all the time some of the members take to post detailed write ups with photos, but sometimes a quick video is easier to follow. On a seperate note, the dealer down here quoted over $500 for the 30,000 routine maintenance. I thought that sounded like highway robbery. Are the dealers able to charge whatever they want, or is there some standard set by Toyota? I'm also curious: how much work is involved in "re-torquing the propeller shaft bolt and "lubricating the propeller shaft?"

I'll make a deal with you. Send me a Gopro and I'll make a video for the oil change...

Can you imagine how bad the video would be? Not to mention that yous guyses would all make fun of my downtown B-More accent.

Second thought, I think I'll stick with the pics!
