Do you guys think we can mount the light bar on the lower part of the 06+ grill?
How about mount it on the grill/hood? I am afraid the mount will not be strong enough and will cause vibration.

The pic you posted is a 06+, so yes it will work in the lower grill just like mine. [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] has had a double and now a single row 30" mounted on top of the front bumper.

I am sorry that worded my question wrong. I was asking to see that anyone has tried to mount the light behind the lower part of the hood grill (big grill).
I afraid the lower grill (small grill) too low for light output.

Ah....makes much better sense now. I don't see there being room in the factory grill to do this. Someone here did the satoshi grill and mounted a led bat behind it, although I can't recall who it was.

Thinking of trying this with 2 12" bars with space between them for my license plate. Any reason that wouldn't work?

Should work, but there will be some overlap based on my measurements. The grill is ~35" wide, but 2 12" bars plus the license plate (12") comes in at 36". I don't see where this would hurt anything, other than blocking a small amount of light.

Cool, thanks. I'd be ok with a bit of blockage, or I might live on the wild side and trim down my front plate a bit.

It's been a while and I don't have it written down, so I'm not sure on the bolt size. I believe they were 1/4" x 2". I don't have measurements on the brackets, but could probably get some.
I would love to have them but i dont want you to go through any trouble for them. I think some cardboard will be my best friend as far as a template goes. How did you bend the brackets?

I just guessed on the bracket sizing. I knew they needed to be long enough to hit both sets of holes on the front crossmember, so made them an inch or two longer. I held the light bar and mount up there and mounted approx where the holes needed to be. To bend the brackets I put the strip in a vise and used a big hammer. Would have been easier/better with heat, but didn't have anything on hand to heat it with.

I don't recall any foam, at least not any that was in the way.

I don't want to jump onto anyone elses thread (don't want to offend you Ark) but you could also check out a few of my pictures to see a similar style for mounting a bracket for the bar. I ended up taking the actual steel bumper off and drilling right through to put the bolts on. The foam I think you're talking about is just sitting on there with pressure. remove when working and put it back on before you put the bumper cover back on.
The way I did mine though the bar sits further out then the way Ark has his so the grill would have to come out too.

Here's my version of this mod!
Instead of using a piece of angle iron across the entire bumper as my mounting point, I used the two pillars that support the bumper instead. Seemed easier, less modification, and less material to accomplish.
I also Satoshi'ed out the lower grill so that I could get as much light output as possible

yes, but you'd have to use the design described in the OP. My mounts fits a 30" perfectly, won't fit any other sizes unless you added more pieces to it. The two bumper supports are exactly wide enough to fit a 30" bar, anything more or less would require a different mount
