3rd Gen DMV renewal fees in your state?

In NJ, $71.50 for annual registration on my '99 with one duplicate registration. Smog every 2 years, free at the state, and I think it is $75 if you do it at a licensed private shop. I do it at the state--you can make an appointment and it goes pretty fast. Personalized plates are like $50 up front plus $50 a year extra--not for me.

$77.36 to register it and get plates last April (I had just purchased it in January and needed to get the clutch changed before I could get my emissions inspection).

I just got my renewal notice. $104 for my 2000, no smog this year(14), but that would be another $45, or will be in 2015. But the benefit is I get to live in Beautiful sunny Southern California!

Is that for '14 year tags or '15? Because my '98 is only $92 but that's due in February so it will the '15 tags.

1997 Southern California. EDIT: Payed $75 for the new tags (2015). Im pissed. This is up from the $59 it used to be a couple years back. Then there is the smog every other year and thats $40.

I'm sure the high fees in CA have to do with the fact that there was terrible smog from cars in the 60's and 70's. So paying a little more is worth it for the weather, the superiority of being Californian, and minimizing the damage to the environment.
I live in VA and I always "renew for two" to save the hassle and the stamp. $80 for two years. My area does not have smog inspections but some parts of VA do.

$89 here in Northern Cali. I'm in one of the few counties in CA that doesn't require smog, it's nice!

Georgia just pass a new tax thing/law. Since I paid tax on the Runner when I bought it 2 within a time period they determined. My renew this year was $20 for tag fee and $25 for emission.

I think it has to do with revenue. From what I understand, California used to have a flat fee or something (similar to Texas?). When the state went bankrupt a few years ago, they realized that adjusting the vehicle registrations based on the 'depreciated value' of the vehicle could bring in significant revenue (especially with all those movie stars and rich people buying extravagant vehicles).

In Tennessee mine is $29, but my county has emissions testing that costs an extra $10. $39 for the year isn't too bad compared to some of the others listed above. Also my specialty plate doesn't cost extra.
well my renewal is up next month 190.00 almost as much as my acura tl with 100k less miles and pricier..
But I guess here in ca you get taxed more.. I hate CA.. If I had guarantee job elsewhere out of this state I'd take it. The average household Income suffers to pay for the lees fortunate's medical and govt aid. Rich gets richer. Its where all the tax goes. Sorry I have to rant.

Wow I thought with the price increases in Wisconsin we had it bad...but looking at you all we have it good!

Yea..that's a weird archaic "bible belt" law that hopefully gets repealed soon...sounds like it might. Fortunately, Ohio is a short drive for me in a worst case scenario! lol
