So i just lifted my 97 sr5 roughly 3.5"s....everything else is stock right now but i need new tires.
So my question is with 1.25" wheel spacers, what are my options as far as wheels an tires go?

Do i need new wheels or stick with stock 16"?

I want to run 33's but i dont know what size to actually get

Please help!

I would say the correct size for you depends on what level of modifications you are willing
to make to make a size fit and perform well? 265s might look a bit small-ish, but will have the least impact on power, braking, clearance etc...255, 285 get more involved from there.

I would also say at 3.5" there are many other components to address than simply tire size...

285-75-16 and you can run your stock wheels with the spacers or get the proper wheel fitment and not runs spacers.

What is the benefit to aftermarket UCA's?

I can confirm that with 285-75-16 tires and stock 5-star wheels you do NOT want to run spacers. This is because the backspacing of stock 5 stars plus spacers makes the tire stick out too far. Once you go offroad and fully articulate you will damage your fender.

With 265x75x16 and stock 5 stars YES run spacers but not with 285s.

Why do you only run spacers in the front?

You get new UCAs because the tire will scrape the edge of the control arm at full droop, or you can get a spacer so it doesn't scrape it (or potentially grind the UCA since it's only like an 1/8" that needs to be removed to clear it). The rear tires don't have anything they risk rubbing on that a spacer would help with, though usually people put spacers on the front and back to make it look uniform. You can also get differently offset rims so you don't need a spacer or new UCA to prevent scraping.

Aftermarket UCAs also bring the alignment back into spec because you can't align back to spec with a 3" lift (typically) with stock arms.

I had to run spacers on mine because the the tires hit on the control arms. I got some wheels with the proper offset now and don't need them anymore.

I had the 16 inch stock steel wheels when I had toyota wheels on the truck. And I never had any issue with the tires rubbing the fender. Don't have any experience with the 5 stars so don't know about those. I would take his advice from the looks of it.

The sizing was mostly fine until I came down hard on the front end, basically bottoming out to the bump stops. The tires pushed my fender up and popped off the flares on each side.

The tires were just sticking out waaaay to far with that setup and I should have realized it would be a problem.

So I'm set up pretty much exactly like you are. I have a 98 SR5 with about the same lift, 3".
I went with 33s as well, specifically 285/75/16. However, I bought aftermarket wheels with mine. I have no rubbing in the front, full lock or off-road, or anything. An I have about 1" clearance with the UCA. I didn't have to buy aftermarket UCAs and my alignment is dead on. The wheels I went with are 16x8.5" with a 4.5"BS, with -6mm offset. My wheels/tires stick out approx. 1/2" past the flares. I've been off-road a dozen times or so and never had a problem.

Although Brian may have hit his flares, I'm not sure if you would if you ran a 1" spacer on stock wheels. Our flares are different than his, and are closer to the body, and narrower. And they stop at the bumper, while theirs have a piece on the bumper. Another member that lives near me has the same lift, 33s, but drives a limited and rubs his flare.

I bought everything at Discounttiredirect.com. Since I ordered wheels and tires at the same time, they were delivered mounted and balanced and ready to throw on. Plus there is no tax or shipping. If you are ready to buy and let them know, they'll throw you a decent deal (I was buying tires for my wife's truck and basically got them free).

The top of the tire is level with the UCA...

No, I do not run spacers. I run an aftermarket wheel with less back spacing than the stock wheel, which pushes the face of the wheel out further. It is also 1.5" wider than the stock wheel. Stock is 16x7 with 4 5/8" back spacing, I'm running 16x8.5 with 4.5" back spacing.

However, I would think you'd be ok with a 1" spacer since you don't have the wider flares like the limited and you don't have the piece on the bumper. If anything, its cheaper to just get tires and see how it goes. If you don't rub, you're good. If you rub the UCA, buy spacers. If you then rub somewhere else, but new wheels. Start cheap and work your way down the line, don't necessarily spend the money first. I did, because I wanted new wheels.
