I'm mid process of pulling this off now. If you see this I am modifying the bracket tomorrow. I'm hoping my welder will penetrate deep enough to make a solid arm. It's a 120v but I think if I throw it on high heat it should do the trick. I do 1/4" with no problem and I have access to weld all the way around it.
I ended up using a different style spacer as well. I found 3 washers that were absolutely perfect. Very tight fit and no give when I snuck them in there for the bottom mount.
I'll have pics to add to the thread here soon. That stock arm is just a hair too short. I had half a mind to just drill some more material out and do it that way but I think adding the metal in between will work better.
