I appreciate that some people here are trying to set up a serious meet. Unfortunately, you have a lot of trolls trashing your efforts.

3rd Gen owners have every right to be proud of their ride, but unless you also own and have driven a 5th Gen in the same way you drive your 3rd Gen, your opinion is based on nothing more than speculation because YOU DON'T KNOW what the 5th Gen can and can't do based on actual experience. Stating that a 3rd Gen is "better" based on experience driving a 3rd Gen is just as stupid as claiming the 5th Gen is better without actually driving one.

This entire thread was created in reaction to a post based on a side-by-side picture and speculation not based on anything resembling real experience driving a 5th Gen and it went downhill from there. Complaining about the other guy doing the same thing just makes you a hypocrite, a point I tried to illustrate by claiming my 5th Gen would knock the snot out of any stock 3rd Gen. Clearly, most of you just want to argue with each other. If you want to talk trash, fine... I'm not really interested.

But if you want 5th Gen owners to show up and actually do runs with you, quit acting like opinionated assh0les or encouraging your cohorts to do so. It's one thing to be competitive, it's quite another to act like an ignorant hick.

is a 5th gen the same as a FJ? NO

is the 5th gen a new vehicle. YES

since it's a new vehicle does it need to be proven? YES

i don't know if i can make it any simpler then that, if you don't understand the difference between real world experience/real world capabilities and projected capabilities , you have no business being anywhere near a wrench or a car and should stick to your mini-vans that you drop off at the dealer to have the wind shield wipers changed for you.

honestly you just can't argue that point and sorry to say it's the truth, we don't know yet, so get off your fan boy band wagon (you like how i did that there :lmao:) and be reasonable.

I can be in Stanwood in about an hour. If you have a stock 3rd Gen and a preferred place to drive it, we can settle most of the dispute this afternoon.
 
I'm not trying to knock anything or anyone. I think time will tell more about the 5th gen more than anything. It does have a lot of great features, though until they are tested again and again on the specific application of a 5th gen, there will not be a clear picture about it. Yes they do share technologies and features with other vehicles, though they are a separate vehicle and will react different to certain circumstances. The idea of a friendly get together would be great and be a good comparison for comparison's sake and for fun.

Nothing can replace real world time and testing, the Titanic was considered a great achievement until it set sail, we all know how that ended. I'm not saying the 5th gen will sink or anything, just give it time. I honestly hope it's great off-road, as eventually I may have to replace my 4Runner.

haha my ride isn't stock, lol and i got out of the hardcore wheeling game when i left jeeps, i have a nice truck and treat it as such, i'm sure someone else would be up destroying their ride, just not me, lol

and again nothing is going to be settled between 2 trucks in 1 afternoon, see what everyone else is saying, i'm getting tired of repeating myself.

No one is talking about destroying their ride, that has never even been suggested. As for your non-stock status... your ARB bumper only improves an advantage (approach angle) you already had and your suspension upgrades don't concern me. In fact, I think I prefer it, as keeping up with a non-stock would only make my stock 5th Gen TE look better.

No, not all arguments would be settled, but more than a few would. Considering how much energy you've sunk into arguing with Thai, I would think you would relish the chance to back your words with action and see what a TE can actually do. I guess I thought wrong.

yep, you did,(thought wrong) i have destroyed more then a few rides from trying to match **** size with idiots not going to start again now, you know after the whole puberty thing passed.

i'll be happy to go one a trail ride with you once i got my truck properly armourd and such, like i said at this point in time i want to spend my money on mods not fixing broken stuff.

and face it, 2 guys on a trail trying to prove which stock ride is better shit is going to break. as you won't know until you try right?!?!?!

but hey if you find another idiot that wants to do this with you by all means and bump the thread with results, like i said i don't care either way and to be honest i'll be happy when the 5th gen is proven on the trail so i can buy one as it stands the 3rd gen is the most reliable and well tested suv on the market today, if the 5th gen can do the same i really have something to look forward in the future, and please do not take this as backing down, read all of my comments again i never said either way (no edits either!!!!) i just said we don't know yet (for like the 50th time).


so please stop trying to bait me i'm too old for that sort of thing and i'm only 28.....
