4 Wheel Parts Rant

Hey guys, I'm just ranting here, any opinions, comments or suggestions are welcome... both good and bad.

I ordered a Pro Comp Es3000 Shock for my 4runner on Friday November 25th... I paid for it cash that day. They said it was in stock in their warehouse and would arrive Monday November 28th... Well, I never received a call on Monday, so i waited patiently... When I didnt hear back from them by Friday December 2nd... I called them to check the status... they said.. oops, it wasn't in the warehouse so they ordered it and it was now in Denver... It should arrive Wednesday December 7th... I said, OK... Once again, I did not hear back from them... So on FRIDAY December 9th, I called them... They told me, oops, it was in Denver... I said, "they told me that last week i called" then they said That it was back-ordered last week and now it was really in Denver and would be here by Wednesday December 14th... another week went by... No contact from them... I called them back Friday December 16th... they said it was in Denver... lol So I told them that this was ridiculous, and I needed my part, so I would go elsewhere and cancel my order... they said, they would check with their other store in a city nearby... I cant remember which one... they called me back and said that they had the shock at the other store, and they had someone physically put their hands on it, IT WAS THERE. So they said it would ship from that store and be there by Thursday December 22nd... I said fine.. I have not heard back from them... It is now January 10th and I still have NO SHOCK!!! I have not been able to drive my truck and the tags are now expired... =\ What should I do?? Any suggestions appreciated. :gun4:

Get a damn refund!! Then use that money to buy your tag. Then get some new shocks. Go to Amazon and order the KYB shocks, that what someone here on the Forum told me.

ya i ordered some bilsteins from them a few months back, luckily they were there when i showed up a couple days after not hearing from them... i would much rather them tell me to call and see when my parts will be there rather than waiting for them to call which they NEVER DO!... which i have learned, either buy straight from the manufacturer or make friends with a shop thats local to you!

Thanks guys! Felt good to get that off my chest! LOL...

I am going to ask for my refund, and go elsewhere...

I posted a bad review on their google review page... and the manager asked me to email them with my contact information... Should I tell them im in Denver? jk!

You're a lot nicer than I am. If I go into a store and pay cash for something, I expect to have it within one or two weeks. After a month and a half I would have already had my money back and shocks from someone else installed.

Go back to the store with your reciept and get your money back. Then go to another store (tire shop or online) and get some bilsteins. You can get some pretty good bilsteins for a decent price from addicted, wabfab, or trail-gear.

Yeah I'm still waiting on my OME Coils and steering stabilizer...it's been over a month since I ordered, and over a week since I should have received them. I havent even received a confirmation that the order has been shipped out. Thanks Rocky-Road...

Edit: Got my confirmation today from Rocky Road...going to be delivered in 5 days...phew!

Rocky Road orders directly from Australia. It takes time, but they do send confirmation when they ship. Took almost 2 months for me to get my suspension.

sucks about your situation. i just started using 4 wheel parts and so far they have been great too me. 1st visit was awesome, got a discount. my 2nd visit made me feel like they didnt want my business, felt like they wanted to sell only pro comp stuff cuz i went in for OME stuff. 3nd time was ok, store is filled with JEEP parts only. 4th time got better but i did spend like $1400 with them that time. ever since than they have been really good to me and nice. parts show up quick and i get calls telling me its there. they earned my business mainly because they prices match almost all online sales. last match was with amazon.

I gotta admit, I'm with SV Dude on this--I give someone about two rounds to make things right, and then I take my money back and move on. I know 4WP is a Jeep specialist, so I wonder if you were getting some anti-Yota sentiment behind your back? I'm one of those who's completely comfortable dealing with online retailers, so I keep a broad base of companies to deal with (I even bought two of my 4Runners online!). Coming home and seeing a big box near the door always gets me excited! I hope it all works out for you, Offroad4R!

Yeah, its been frustrating, but ranting on here felt great. LOL...

Bucknut Bob... I have ordered parts online and have been very lucky with great pricing and great service... but as of recently, I have tried to shop locally... it seems to go sour every time... =-\ LOL

Sometimes you just gotta let it out! Here's a tip for you, in case you don't already know--eBay can be a very good source, because of their feedback system. To a vendor there, bad feedback is death, so they work very hard to protect their reputations, and want every opportunity to make it right with their customers. Just like with any place, there are no guarantees of getting exactly what you needed, but you can bet they'll bend over backwards to make it right--just make sure they have a 95% or higher positive rating for a large number of transactions. Amazon can be good, too, because in most cases the transaction itself is guaranteed by Amazon, NOT the vendor. This means you can get a no hassle, no questions refund or exchange if anything isn't right. On my last purchase, I got the same defective crap twice, and both times all I had to do was tell Amazon I wanted to return it, and they immediately issued me a prepaid shipping label and scheduled a UPS pickup for the next day--and true to my word in the last post, the second time I took my money back and went elsewhere! For specialized Toyota merchants, just ask those on this forum. Better luck next time!
