4Runner among most stolen vehicles

Interesting to see newer 4Runners are stolen so often.

With all the technology in them these days how are they doing it?

That list is for Canada and no offense but there are at least a few other poor choices on that list. Here in the states...the most stolen list is usually topped by high volume vehicles like Accord, Camry, Civic, etc. In general, 4Runners are probably much easier to steal since they lack the tech of most other cars today. That being said, mine came with Skylink and gets parked in my garage so I don't think it's going anywhere.

Unfortunately all it takes is probably just a quick 5min job while you're out at work or the store. People are *******s!

That's the problem: The Technology. People teach it, People learn it in Auto Theft 101. They can spend hours learning it online or from friends. When they get to the truck, it would only take them seconds to do.

Don't rely on technology. Install multiple, simple kill-switches that only you and a trusted few know the location of. Thieves would not want to be caught "learning" (actually spending time looking for the switches) it.

That is unfortunate but I guess I don't blame thieves for making at least one smart decision.

The problem with driving a quicksand colored vehicle is that it sticks out and is more likely to be noticed by ticket writing cops. Of course, I have seen a couple stare at me as I blew by them & they stayed put, so maybe they don't perceive it as a speedmobile (which it isn't by nature).

On the other hand, what criminal would steal a vehicle that so sticks out so much that in anyplace but a big city, people recognize the vehicle.
