Hello All:

I just found out the below two recall issued recently (source: Motor Trend) It appears the recalls are related to the label in the door jam and the load capacity.

There is tread on this forum regarding payload which few of us were concern about. My dealer verbally verified that the payload was 1700lb as I had posted. However despite my inquiry, I have NOT received any written confirmation or verbal acknowledgment from Toyota on this matter. I have also requested for the up to date towing guide, available for download on Toyota.ca, that includes 2010 4Runner (again no response from Toyota Canada).

The simple question: what is the maximum load/weight this vehicle can safely transport, as it was delivered to consumer, with original tire and rim?

I would appreciated if someone could post a written answer from TMC?

THESE VEHICLES WERE SOLD BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 1, 2005 AND JUNE 2, 2008 WITHOUT THE REQUISITE LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY MODIFICATION LABELS.
Consequence:
THIS DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARD REQUIREMENTS.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL MAIL TO CONSUMERS THE CORRECTED LABEL OR THE CUSTOMER WILL HAVE THE OPTION FOR DEALERS TO INSTALL THE LABEL FREE OF CHARGE. DEALERS WILL ALSO CORRECT THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GULF STATES TOYOTA AT 713-580-3300.

Reading the recall it states that it is for vehicles sold between "SEPTEMBER 1, 2005 AND JUNE 2, 2008". If that's a true fact it can not be a recall of the 2010's.

I did get a recall letter from Gulf States Toyota in the mail a couple of months ago lowering the load capacity.Not even noteworthy enough to start a thread:lmao:

It was a sticker for my drivers doorjamb that said the load capacity had been lowered by 16 lbs I believe. I was supposed to apply it over the sticker that said it was lowered by 13 lbs. already on there. They miscalculated the port add-ons by 3 lbs. and they call it a recall!!:police:

I guess maybe we should just change it everytime we get gas or go to the bathroom .:wtf:

This is a 5th Gen recall notice!

The dates are wrong on the summary! :shrug:

3lb weight difference sticker recall , now I can't eat that second Burrito!

OMG! More than 3lbs of paper will go into the recall for the recall:flamethrwoer2:

When was the last time a 3lb overload caused a crash on a 5k lb vehicle?

So, do I need to put this back into 5th? Is that what I am reading?
 
^^ well you never know... if they dont make a recall some freak accident will happen and toyota will lose a ton in court
 
First off, I would like to send my concern to those who faced this Toyota recall. Whether they purchase brands of foreign names, they should not be forced to deal with the uncertainty of issues such as these. Toyota should do something about this.
 
We use a couple of full size Tundras for our parts department deliveries and we got letters in the mail on both that we needed to place the new stickers on each truck to indicate the change in load capacity.

Each sticker mailed for replacement was IDENTICAL to the original. No change whatsoever.

This is almost as funny to me as the check for $0.03 that Sprint keeps mailing me in order to rectify what they owe me on a wireless account I had 3 years ago. I keep tearing up the check and throwing it away because it humors me that they continually spend 30 cents to mail me a 3 cent check.

This is over F-ing stickers? wow! Although this reminds me of the new HD Ram being recalled over the same problem. funny thing was people went over the "new" weight limit and didn't have a problem.
