Glad to hear you are ok. I live in the burbs in Columbus. The pictures look like the exit I take on 315 South on my way to work. I saw the aftermath of a bad accident on Monday, but I didn't see your 4Runner.

I've lived and/or worked in a lot of cities, but Columbus takes the prize for worst drivers by far. There are very nice people here, but some poor driving. Not aggressive, just crazy lane changes and lots of rear end collisions.
 
Holy ****T. Glad your OK. Your 4Runner gave its life so you could keep yours.

That is VERY surprising recovery crews did not disconnect it.

The front airbags based on deceleration rate and, as the OP said, there was little if any in this incident.

Come to Phoenix. Not even close. It feels like everyone is model drivers back home in comparison to here. :gun5:

It was right outside Mount Carmel West, it happened at 6:40am on Monday and my 4Runner was out of there by 8am maybe.
 
Great to hear that you are okay!! Buckle up folks, Seat belts do save lives!! Also helps to have the Toyota Star Safety System :thumb3: You don't say how many times you rolled (once is enough for ya i bet hehe) but I gotta say I'm impressed with how well the Runner held up.

X2 Unfortunately I've worked many accident scenes like this, they appear relatively minor but turns out the opposite is true and usually because seat belts aren't being worn.

I gotta say that I honestly cringe whenever I see a thread asking "how to silence the seat belt chime"

I dunno, Ohio is pretty up there. Cleveland has worse drivers than Columbus. Worse than Atlanta suburb drivers if that's a good comparison for you!
 
Thanks for posting this. I know the situation sucks but, from a personal point of view, I feel much better. Leaving my wife behind with our 2007 PT Cruiser as her daily driver rather than our 2010 Trail Edition was worrying me. One look at those pics convinced both of us that the 4Runner is the safer way to go.

I am glad you made it through ok. God works in mysterious ways.

Not sure if you noticed it but on the second picture, if you look closely, it appears that you may have scratched the paint on the fender. While it may buff right out I would have it looked at in case you need some touch up paint.
 
Glad you're OK, I can imagine what shock you must've had.

But I feel better now knowing that if somebody hits me on highway I might survive as well in my T4R.
 
Glad you're okay, and glad that the guy who did this didn't get away with it.

Just a PSA: the 4runner has had the lowest number of highway fatalities per 100,000 accidents of any vehicle on the road since its introduction. That might not be an accident, pardon the pun.

I need to find the page on the NHTSA that had all that compiled.

Glad to hear you came out of this ok.

Great to know that 4Runners can keep a person safe in some pretty scary situations.
