4runner TRD Pro

Are most people on here paying 3-10k over MSRP? Seems insane to me. Just got rebuffed at the dealer, I'm just not willing to pay over MSRP, seems silly to me.To be honest this whole experience is turning me off to the 4runner. If I don't get one at least I can sleep well knowing I didn't get gouged by all the typical stealerships. Maybe time to start looking at Jeeps, sigh.

Thats because they know you want it..And the TRDP are in high demand so they are selling at a premium. just buy the TEP and be done with it... act like you are going to leave until they give you their invoice pricing. I spent a good 6 hours haggling with them for my TEP it was worth it!

I'm wondering if the production will be limited at all for 2016. We've seen this act before by automakers over the decades. This year's ultra-limited-just-can't-find-one model is next year's bread and butter. Nothing wrong with it, but definitely let the buyer beware. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if for the next model year, the dealer lots are crammed with these. Probably still a healthy bump to dealer cost (i.e. more profit for Toyota), but not necessarily the added "dealer premium" because of supply and demand.

I was told I would be under MRSP, only a little bit. With the delay, if they try to make me pay more, I am off to get the infinity QX80 that another dealership keeps calling me about.

I fully understand why and how they are doing this, it's just ridiculous to me that people are willing to pay so much over MSRP when in this day and age MSRP is already a huge compromise. I'm in no hurry I'll wait it out and see what happens. Still gonna go test drive a Jeep, even though that pentastar engine seems like heap.

Heck maybe I'll wait and see what happens in 2016, again no hurry, I'll keep blasting on ramps in my STI.

I would get a TEP without KDSS and just upgrade the suspension. Funny that you have an STI. I have 2014 and have been drooling over the TRD Pros. I have a lease on my 335i that will end next year. The TRDpro will definitely replace it.

I'm sure you're no stranger to premiums paid over MSRP if you own an STI. Some people were paying close to 40k for the 15 WRX not even the STI :(

I know what you mean about paying premiums on STI's but I didn't for mine and I wouldn't. I wanted a pearl white 2011 5 door STI and there was not one to be had in the country, Glendale Subaru ordered me one for about 1500 under MSRP, waited almost 3 months and got my car. I was treated very well, went back in August and bought my wife a 2015 Forester for her and the kiddo. Gouging customers is short sighted. Such is life though.

That 335 is fun with that N54 motor, hope you threw and Accessport on it for some extra fun. I have buddy shopping used 335 4 doors now. He's tired of his 09 Z06 (which is a BEAST).

I have yet another dealer that I might be able to get my TRD Pro from, but I'm not holding my breath.

I got my TRD Pro for 500 under MSRP. Not great, but good considering the limited availability and likely better resale. I put down a deposit and waited ~ 6 weeks for one the dealer had on the way. I did call around to several other dealerships and I had one dealer about 500 miles away tell me they would sell me a TRD Pro for invoice, but that they didn't have any yet. It was just some random sales person and I don't think they knew what the TRD Pro was and I was pretty sure if I waited for that dealer that the sales manager wouldn't agree to the deal. I decided 500 under was the best I was going to do in this area for my top color choice and options.

Seems very reasonable. The folks that are claiming that they got it for $3000 off MSRP got it for a steal from a dealer that probably doesn't subscribe to supply and demand economics or they wanted keep a return customer very happy or they gave them $3500 less for their trade-in. Anyhow, kudos to all that are paying less than MSRP.

Get a TRD Pro, whatever color you can get ASAP...enjoying mine in the backyard:

I know it's frustrating, but try not to get discouraged. I was frustrated myself trying to even locate one, let alone get a fair price, but you can't escape the law of supply and demand. If you really don't want to go through this for a TRD Pro, just get a TEP, which is pretty close to a TRD Pro. They can be had for under invoice (more than $2,500 off sticker) and aren't too difficult to locate. I was seriously considering this too, but I really really really didn't want a moonroof but wanted the features of the Premium trim, especially the SofTex interior, so the extra hassle and price was worth it to me. I was willing to pay a little over sticker (maybe $1,500 or so), but it seems others are willing to pay more.

I do wonder what 2016 will hold. Will the TRD Pro be discontinued, limited like it is now, or a "regular production model" like the SR5, Trail, and Limited?

I'm really curious about the "resale" aspect several people have mentioned. I'm not sure that there will be much of a benefit on resale value for this TRD Pro model compared to the other trims. The T4R already has very high resale value and when it comes down to it, there isn't much about this edition to make it truly stand out. (This isn't a Mustang GT vs. Shelby Super Snake situation)

I guess time will tell.... but if you're paying $2k+ on top of standard 4R prices, I suspect you'll be hard pressed to get that back after 75,000 miles. Bottom line is that this isn't an "investment" vehicle in any way. If anything I actually see the TRD Pro as a good buying strategy to try to get the dealer to agree to better pricing on an SR5/TE/LE if they won't budge on the Pro.

I've been wanting a blacked out orange SUV for as long as I can remember. Nobody ever made one until now. I was hoping Jeep would have come out with their Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 2 with a diesel that they revealed at MOAB 2 years ago but that just hasn't happened.
I don't mind paying more for the TRD Pro (I'm actually getting mine for $1000 under MSRP plus they're throwing in a couple extras). Mine is a business write-off so that even if it costs more, I can write more off. I have no real idea what it would cost to repaint a vehicle to the color you want. I would imagine it would be much more than $2000.

I'm a little bummed that it doesn't have a sunroof/moonroof but I can add an aftermarket one later on if I want.

This will be a vehicle I will keep forever just like my 1994 Toyota 4x4 pickup.
The only way I won't be happy with my purchase is if it is a lemon or if it gets totaled.

Got mine Friday love it!

That looks sweet….Still waiting on mine. Dealer has been telling me for 10 days that it’s sitting in the Port and every 2 days they give me a new delivery date. Getting a little frustrated.

Been saving for about a year to get mine (paid off my FJ and been socking away that payment for the down-payment) and when they keep moving the delivery date to the right it makes me want to go to another Dealer and start over, but not wait the additional 6 weeks…...

The designer of the gen 5 T4Rs is definitely a Star Wars fan. They look like they are part of the imperial fleet. Specially the TRDP's. Black - Darth Vader, White - Storm Troopers, Inferno - Imperial Guards.

Wifey and I got to see what the TRD Pro was about this weekend....Went down to Uwharrie National Forest to try out a couple of trails. I messed up and let wifey drive, and she wouldn't let me get any more drive time after that!

Here she is flexin' out the BatMobile:

I am really still trying to get over just how capable this vehicle is!
