4runner TRD Pro

Red pinstripe on new TRD Pro

Got my 4Runner TRD Pro on Wednesday of this past week. Love it. Lots of random complements and finger pointing type ooohhs and aaahhhs. Between the time I first looked at it and picked it up the dealer did a dirty trick and put a pinstripe on it. At first I thought I would make them take it off, but it's red and kind of understated. Thoughts?

(yes I did plasti dip the chrome rear badge so it matches the front 'TOYOTA' lettered one)

Very nice... but dump the pinstripe. :thumb:

looks sweet, but I personally would remove the pinstripe. If you love it, then you should keep it. It looks like you did a great job on the plastidip.

Attitude!

Awesome rig, I'll be plastidipping my rear emblems as well makes it look a lot cleaner than the chrome.

The pinstripe is different and really gives it a different look. I personally like it.

Welcome to the family!

If they can remove it cleanly without effing it up I say remove it. However it does break up the black nicely. Not enough pics to say yay or nay for sure.

get rid of that red pinstripe now! Take it off, burn it with gasoline and please bury the ashes far away from civilization. Or keep it, whatever u like... :toilet:

Congrats and looks good! Don't let other people influence your decision on the pinstripe. It does break up ALL the black and compliments the red springs and center caps nicely in my opinion. And if you get bored, could always plastidip the front Toyota and rear 4Runner red maybe... I too bought plastidip in advance in order to do the rear to match the front. What color shade did you buy? I went with DYC grey metalic flake, as I thought this would match the best with the front...

If you like it, rock that pinstripe.

Having said that, I'm not a fan of pinstripes. Certain classic vehicles look ok if it is hand painted and under the clearcoat. I've backed out of vehicle deals at the last minute because the dealer added a stripe for me "free of charge".

I would have it removed, in my opinion it doesn't add anything...

Its is more of a gimmick for dealers to make a bit more margin these days. They really don't add any aesthetic value but if it doesn't bother you or you like it, it really doesn't matter what others think. Also if its painted on, you may loose a little of your clear coat in the removal process.

Sick as Teets! You're gonna love it!
Yep, folks definately snap them necks when you drive by in a shiny black TRDP....Even had some concerned looks from Jeepers :pimp:

You idiot! Don't you know pin stripes "add value" according to car dealership sales "professionals?"

That's at least 599.99 dollars' worth of "value!"

You got yours cheap.
My dealer added $2990 to MSRP. "Sierra Gold Package" or some such crap.
Needless to say I ignored the dealer's "FTC" window sticker during negotiations.

I got my SR5 after the TRD pro came out and since im still not happy with the front grille specially when you view it from far, I thought I would try to copy the cosmetic aspects of the tRD pro. so heres my questions:
1.) what is the tire size of the TRD Pro tire ?? is it wider than the stock tire ?

2.) Bilstein shocks on the trd pro is 5100? or doesnt matter as long as its bilstein ?

3.) did they also put wheel spacers on the TRD pro ?? how many inches is it ?

4.) anyone has an estimate how many plasti-dip cans I will need to paint the two horizontal parts of the grille to get that trd pro grille look ??

1.) 265-70-17 ... Can't find tread width specs

2.) No ... Yes it matters, Bilstein makes several different shocks... some still not out yet for the T4R -> See this Thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/179183-bilstein-60mm-bts-system.html

3.) No ... N/A

4.)Depends on how many coats you want to put...the question is relevant.

Hi Saker,
Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

for the plasti-dip, lets say ,I'll' do 2-3 coats.. and one more question, is it necessary to remove the 2 horizontal parts in order to spray it all around or will the plasti-dip stick in place if i just spray what it visible to the eye ? thanks

I don't know exactly what parts you are referring to, but if you tape it off good and trim the PD before it dries you may be able to shoot it in place....if you mess up, just peel it off......!
