I know for a fact that Toyota did publish a number for the water depth on the FJ Cruiser. I don't remember what that number is, but I do know that they did have a number.

I agree. They published a number of 27.5" for the FJ I believe but they have not posted a number for the 4Runner. I wish they would just add the official capability to the 4Runner. Land Rover does an amazing job at marketing the water fording depth. Check the spec page on their website. It actually shows a diagram of the side profile of the vehicle sitting in water. The Land Rovers (even the new small Discovery Sport) are sealed at the bottom of the doors as well. They also do some extreme validation testing where they flood the interior of the vehicle for 30 minutes and the vehicle has to be able to start and drive away.

The major difference between Toyota water fording capabilities and that of Land Rover and Jeep is that Land Rover and Jeep both publish the maximum water fording depth their vehicles are designed to withstand (Jeep trail rated) on their website. Land Rover even has a sensor telling you when the water is approaching the maximum depth as you traverse the body of water.
Toyota does not publish anything about the maximum water fording depth and we are left only to guess based on experience. That is the one area I would like to see Toyota step up their game if they want to be viewed as a major player in the off road market. This tells me that Toyota is most likely being told by their legal staff not to publish an actual number. For the record I am about to buy my first 4Runner.

The "estimate" for the one I ordered says I should get it on or around January 25, 2015.

I'd like to have it by the end of this year so I can use a chunk of it for this year's business write-off/depreciation thingy.

I know Chevy has used an "inferno orange" color on their Camaros so I'm wondering if it is the same exact color code. It appears to be very similar.

I still haven't seen any TRD Pros on the road yet.

I have heard the same as well. There is one with my name on it, or I should say virtually has my name on it since it doesn't even physically exist yet haha. Again, at this point there just isn't a build date for it.

Ahh yea... You have real money savings tied to this thing. I just really want to obtain one, wheel one, do some road trips, and start the mod-fest.

I have also seen the Chevy color that you are talking about. Being very familiar with the two colors and seeing them in person at nearly the same time I will say that the colors are different. The Toyota color is more copper and red where as the Chevy color is more orange.

I have already seen number of TRD Pros on the road here in the Phx area. I can't say for sure if I keep seeing the same vehicles but I see Tacomas and Tundras in all available colors and 4Runners in White and Black.

What does allocated mean exactly? I was told via email: "We are getting closer to knowing if the region will allow additional TRD Pro to dealers. I have your order in Toyota ordering system with your name locked in. It will be next week around Weds to Thursday if the region released it." In my case, what does Release mean??? Can someone explain the process which Toyota obtains our orders?

So what people paying for the TRD PRO 4Runners? I have been shopping around in the Southern California area and most dealer aren't even bothering to talk price because they say at this point, they can't seem to get any. One got a one white one and it was sold before it got there. The rest said they are waiting, one told me to hold out and I'd be able to get one. One rudely said unless you are willing to pay $3k over MSPR forget it they wouldn't even talk to me.

Curious of other experiences. I have in the past bought high demand vehicles where I waited 4 months to get exactly what I wanted but I never have and never will pay OVER MSRP, seems silly. That said I understand that sometimes you just gotta have something.

You are correct. My father-in-law owns an orange '13 ZL1 camaro. I have also seen a couple trd tundras and I can also say they are different. The toyota color is a much deeper orange.

That's pretty miraculous. There is absolutely zero discounting nearby as far as I've heard. That's why it fell out of my consideration set immediately and I zeroed in on the trail. I figured I could 'mod myself to TRD Pro' if I so chose, should I get the bug bad...

You got a great deal, I was looking at a Raptor if I couldn't get the TRDP in time! I got mine $3K under MSRP.

According to multiple articles I have read they are producing 3400 of each TRDP vehicle. I'll be going to LA Auto Show and poking around the Toyota booth to see what they have to say, I expect to get next to zero useful information.

Would Toyota make more than that if the could sell them, who knows?

Going to do the hood and the entire front with clear, almost did the entire hood in mat black. Will report back with brand of adhesive and pics.
